It’s because their kids range is crap. Took my neices shopping there recently and everything was too short. They need 0-4 too.

It’s what I noted on my comments on my Sienna Miller x Marks and Spencer thread. The smaller sizes were all gone in the items that I wanted when I popped in store and it was pretty much the same on Many of the items online.

That is not so good news for me, I don't want to be tempted to buy more new clothes😁.

Perhaps it indicates that they are now getting their design right for a lot of younger women - on average (and I say, very much on average, knowing there are plenty of very slim older women) we get a bit sturdier as we get older, so that might be why larger sizes have been available in greater numbers up until now, to appeal to their traditional slightly older demographic. I am well upholstered myself, and know that I have been able to find things I really like in M&S for the past few seasons. Maybe younger and slimmer women than me have found the same.

It always amazes me how clothing companies seem to produce an item in the same quantities for difference sizes. It is perfectly obvious that in many cases an item will be more popular with smaller than bigger sizes and vice versa.

HeadNorth · 03/07/2024 09:39

May also be a result of their vanity sizing that women are needing 8-10 in M&S that would be 12-14 in other shops.

Woohooo!!

I have been known to fit into an M and S size 6.

I am absolutely not a size 6. I am firmly a 10 in any other shop.

circular2478 · 03/07/2024 09:44

Yep it's vanity sizing. I'm a size 10 but had to buy size 6's in vest tops as they were so big. Likewise with jeans. Had to buy size 8.

Totally agree with this and you see it everywhere. Nice dresses that 'flow' from just under the bust or have slightly longer sleeves - no chance of a size 14+ being left but absolutely loads of size 6-12's. Then strapless and bodycon dresses, everything below size 16 gone but want it in a size 20 and there's plenty there 🙄
