Rosacea?

Looking for some advice/ help with my skin please. Is this rosacea? I have always had dehydrated and eczema prone skin on my body but recently my face has started to be really red, tight and itchy. It is very irritated. It's hard to cover with makeup and none of the skincare I have tried has helped to shift it. It's mostly my cheeks which are affected.

Are there any products I can use to help with this?

Many thanks in advance

It could be. What skincare have you tried? Niacimide or azelaic acid can help. It looks like a reaction to something - has it come on suddenly?

Bilingualspingual · 02/07/2024 15:31

Alcohol? Spicy food? Even hot weather can cause a reaction

My started that nonsense in perimenopause. Rosacea just means red skin but there are two types, one is a acne type and the other is mainly just the red skin.

Is it like that all the time or coming and going? Any new skin care or makeup in the last few months?

Zinc and castor oil cream is anti inflammatory and promotes healing. I use it on spots or any dry red patches/irritated skin. Very inexpensive. Worth a try.

What are you using at the moment? Looks like a reaction.

I started to get this last year. I assume it must be peri.

I switched a few products to gentler ones and it's calmed down.

CeraVe hydrating cleanser and CeraVe moisturiser (white tub with blue label) have both worked for me.

I also use the Erborian CC in a green tube which neutralises it.

Thanks for the responses and recommendations. I have kept the skincare the same for about 3 months to avoid any changes. I'm using dr organic probiotic cleansing cream and oil followed by la Roche posay moisturiser. I thought these would be relatively 'plain'. Could be worth getting checked re reactions as I have developed a few in my 30s which I have not previously had.

Peri may be a good suggestion too, had not considered this

I can't use LRP, even that is too harsh for my skin. Try CeraVe.

Ticketybooboo · 02/07/2024 17:38

A good turmeric supplement has helped to transform mine recently along with a vitamin e oil with a few drops of lavender essential oil. I’m still a bit red but the spots and flaky skin have gone.

Apileofballyhoo · 02/07/2024 18:17

I have to stick Avene Extremely gentle cleanser these days, and their tolerance moisturisers.

Thanks so much everyone, looks like I'm off to Boots tomorrow!

I really can't recommend the CeraVe moisturiser enough, it's great and amazing value. I think I got big tub for £11 on Amazon last month. It's the best night cream I've ever used.

Apileofballyhoo · 02/07/2024 19:55

Cerave stung me too so if you're trying it get the smaller sizes. No 7 have a range for sensitive skin, the 100 hour moisturiser is good. It's in a green and white tube I think.

I have rosaecea too, it comes and goes but I've learned to manage it. Everyone's skin is different so it's about discovering what works for you. I mostly use the French pharma brands - Vichy and La Roche Posay.
I'd definitely recommend you follow 'talontedlex' if you have Instagram. She gives great tips and reviews loads of products for rosaeca sufferers.

My skin looked like this when I damaged my skin barrier by using Acids too often I think I did The Ordinary Buffet 2 to 3 times a week and alternated it with glycolic acid. Mad!
It was also following hot weather, so maybe that was an element from all the sweating.
I stopped all products, no make up. I then the following products:

Avène Cicalfate + Restorative Protective Cream for Very Sensitive Skin

Avène Thermal Spring Water Spray for Sensitive Skin

Aveeno Face Calm and Restore Cleanser

It took a couple of months for my skin to get back to normal. I also stopped all alcohol and spicy food.
