Sunscreen for eczema or psoriasis prone skin

Hi can anyone recommend a sunscreen that does irritate eczema and/or psoriasis prone skin please? I know the answer is to cover up or avoid the heat of the day but it's not always possible. Interested in recommendations for body (arms) but also face.

I've been using Heliocare mineral tolerance fluid recently:

I was advised that a mineral SPF can sometimes be better for very reactive, flare up prone skin. As its a mineral SPF its a bit different to what I've been used to, you have to shake the bottle before you apply it. But touch wood I've not had any nasty flare ups. I used to be a big fan of La Roche Posay's SPF 50, but for some reason recently it has stopped agreeing with my skin.

Mineral Tolerance Fluid

A light, breathable fluid with mineral-only filters that absorbs quickly into the skin with a silky finish. It's fragrance free and tested on the most sensitive skin. It dries completely clear and so it is the perfect choice for those with skin of colo...

Altruist - recommended by my consultant dermatologist. Amazon sell it and it’s relatively inexpensive. It’s the only one I’ve found doesn’t trigger flare ups.

Nivea sun sensitive is ok for me.

Thanks all, will give them a try

My son is prescribed dupilumab injections his eczema is so bad but he finds (having tried every other suncream!) Eucerin good. No reaction at all

Sleepydoor · 01/07/2024 18:50

When my son was little I just used plain unscented zinc cream on his very reactive skin.

Pricey, but Supergoop has been good for me. Ironically I react horribly to all of the 'sunscreen for kids' stuff that's meant to be good for sensitive skin.

The problem is that it's so personal, you'll just have to keep trying. The Piz Buin Allergy one works well on my skin but I read on here it's not great from the protection pov.

I like LRP for my face, not too greasy for under makeup.

My new favourite is ultrasun, feels a bit sticky when applying it but then dries on and I can't tell it's there. I bought a tube for face today already have general body one. I got 30spf but there's a 50 too.

chesterlestreet · 03/07/2024 11:19

@CelesteCunningham you are right suspect it will be trial and error. I have bought altruist and will give that a try first before working down the list

You may try out La roche posay pf 50+. So here is my routine that I follow:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
la roche posay spf
Evening:
Cerave moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac

I've got psoriasis. I find a layer of hyaluronic acid helps my skin to not react to things.
