Organic and/or natural skincare and toiletries

I'm keen to start simplifying my toiletries and skincare to natural or organic products, but I don't really know where to start. I think my objective is putting fewer chemicals or synthetic ingredients on my skin.

Does anybody want to share recommendations for essentials?

I used to get a few things from here, repeatedly. Only ceased because they stopped stocking the brand I wanted. I obviously cannot vouch for the absolute cleanness of every product - but they are making an effort:

Buy coconut oil (cheap in cooking aisle), lemon, lime and granulated sugar.

Grate the zest of the lemon and lime. Mix with C oil and sugar until you have body scrub consistency.

I use it to exfoliate my body once a week, it's lovely. Make a big jar, it lasts ages.

Thanks both. Loads on this website to inspire me and the body scrub idea is fab!

Ah, @bakewellbride - I use olive oil, sugar and whichever essential oil appeals at the time to make my homemade body scrub. Grin But I really only bother in Summer …

Lots of brands do organic ranges. Neal's Yard is very reputable, as is L'Occitane etc.

They're also highly tested and safe, adhering to the stringent legislation regarding cosmetics and skincare.

They contain chemicals obviously because if they didn't, they'd have no preservatives and quickly go off and be likely to cause irritation (dermatologists are noticing a huge increase in dermatitis and perioral dermatitis especially that they're linking to the "clean" beauty industry feeding on the myth that chemical=bad, natural=good.
