i currently have my hair dyed at the hairdresser, a blond colour and they use Clynol products, i've been made redundant and am looking at ways to cut costs! can i use a home colour like Loreal or will it go green?!! have quite a lot of grey too!!

I'm not a hairdresser but in my young free and single life I used to work for one of the product manufacturers you mentioned. I would strongly advise you not to put one brand on top of another - it may not go green but it will look dull, flat and absolutely nothinglike the colour on the box. The colours on the box are a complete fallacy as it always depends on the colour you started off with and the natural tones that are in your hair which are known as warm or cool. It's a complicated business! I agree with nailpolish - find a home hairdresser (but it's a leap of faith unless they are recommended by someone whose hair you actually like) or go back to your hairdresser's for a free consultation and ask what cheaper options there are - an all over colour is way way cheaper than highlights, as is a semi permanent... no harm in asking!
