Advice needed from expert jumpsuit wearers

I’ve never really got into jumpsuits but my stash of summer dresses are feeling a bit dated. After having lost a bit of weight, I tried on a chambray shirt jumpsuit a friend handed down and it looks lovely!

I reckon I could get quite into jumpsuits, as they are a whole outfit in one and can be dressed up or down. I’m 5’4’’, size 12, well insulated around the middle.

But what do you wear over them when it’s a bit nippy? (Surely a cardigan negates the effect?)
What shoes work for casual and smart casual looks?
Which brand are the top purveyors of fine jumpsuits? (I’ve seen a Hobbs linen one I like- I’m very much upper-middle high street, not designer)
How do I avoid any risk of the Challenge Anneka (legend though she is) look?
Can they ever work in winter? I’m suspicious of the boiler suit, not being 24 and 5’11’’.

Any advice from expert jumpsuit wearers appreciated!

A Japanese style kidney warmer underneath is really good for invisible warmth, and if it’s really cold I wear a vest and a pair of cropped leggings as well. But I find it’s lack of coverage from waist to hip that makes me really cold and for some reason the kidney warmers don’t ride up as much as vests.

Denim jacket over the top?

I really like Hush jumpsuits and have a couple I've bought on Vinted.

JL Anyday do a black boilersuit that is perfect for your height. I have it and I love it. I think it’s in the sale now as well.

Thank you. I think a denim jacket would work but not with chambray.
I’ll look up that JL boilersuit. I also quite fancy something in silk for smart winter wear.

I don’t mind a cardy over the top but it does look a bit land girl about to dig potatoes 🤦‍♀️

Which is a strong look I might struggle to carry off but my DD16 would totally rock!

I usually wear something underneath rather than on top. Thermal tops and leggings are good in the winter or a vest with the lace showing if it looks ok.

I love a jumpsuit (and dungarees!). So comfy 😀 I do rock a more casual look in them (or most of the time tbh) but I would wear a cardigan over the top if needed, or I have some long hooded cardigans in hoodie (thick t--shirt) material (if that makes sense!) which work to chuck over the top.

I have a sheepskin vest (or maybe it’s called waistcoat) that I pop over, but I also wear a cropped bulky jumper and tuck the front of the jumper just behind a statement belt so you can see the buckle

I have the Hush cropped jersey jumpsuit and I have worn it with an open linen shirt and tomorrow it's being worn with an open soft denim shirt for travel.

Never heard of these but looked it up and they look great- really handy. Thanks!
