Help me find some bits - Postpartum fashion

I gave birth 4 weeks ago and although I haven’t weighed myself, I guesstimate I’m around 1.5 stones heavier than pre-pregnancy. Carrying the majority of this extra weight on my stomach and breasts. I’d say size overall now a size 16 (previously 12).

I’m really trying to buck old habits and not get sad about the fact nothing in my wardrobe fits me at the moment. When I felt “fat” before I would restrict my eating and I know that’s not healthy and I need to give my body a chance to slowly recover from pregnancy and childbirth.

So, without spending a fortune or buying lots of fast fashion - what do you recommend I purchase? Total budget £300.

Pre-pregnancy, I dressed “up” every day - hair and make up done and always (IMO) well dressed but I feel a bit lost with it all now. I like to take pride in my appearance and when I feel I look good, I feel confident and pretty. If I’m totally honest with myself, I probably put a bit too much value in that but that’s something to unpack another day!

I live in Scotland so there’s not much demand for super summery clothes 😂 I have a couple of gigs coming up (one in Aug, Sept & Oct) and I also want to go out for a date or two with my fiancé. Day to day, I don’t have much on - popping out for a coffee or lunch.

I don’t need to worry about shoes or bags (I have a pretty wide collection already).

Thank you!

I’m in the same situation. I’m buying wide legged linen trousers & short, boxy linen shirts in various colours

Oversized shirts were great for me - if you like funky patterns / vintage style then a seller on Depop called Slush Vintage is great. If you prefer block colours / plain then ASOS always have loads. They’re great as they’ll fit you now and will still fit whatever size you are in future.
They’re really versatile as you can wear them buttoned up and floaty, fully unbuttoned with a vest or tshirt underneath, or you can tie them at the bottom so it’s more shaped / cropped.
If you get some leather / wet look leggings then that’ll jazz the shirts up to maybe be suitable for a gig or date, but equally with normal leggings or jeans they’re great for day to day activities.

Have you thought about shapewear? Investing in that might make you feel more confident.

Thanks, could you share a link to the trousers you’ve gone for?

Do you find they crease really badly? That’s my main peeve with linen! You look lovely til you sit down for more than 10 seconds!

Great suggestion- thanks, I already have a couple and never thought about still wearing them post pregnancy! What would you wear on your feet? Trainers? Chunky sandals? Sliders?

Definitely shirts! Maybe a silky shirt dress for date nights?
Also jewellery, jewellery always fits!

I recommend this brand so often, people will think I have shares in it. I don’t, just think it’s worth knowing about - particularly here. Rather lovely, good quality clothes, specifically for during and after pregnancy.

I have but I think I need a miracle rather than Spanx to make any real difference to my current body shape 😂 will definitely give it a good look, once I have a few things to wear and can see what I need

Thank you - I’d never heard of them before - will get a look now whilst feeding!

All of those shoes would work. I personally like high top converse or trainers. Chunky sandals would definitely look good too :)
