Outfit for Goodwood Revival

Size 16, 5'7 and I absolutely hate high heels. Will be with others who will make a token effort but won't be going all out. Any suggestions? I usually live in comfy sandals or boots and can't face the thought of a day wearing heels. I also don't wear a lot of make up and my always rosy cheeks don't particularly suit the red lipstick look. Please hit me up with ideas for something stylish. I'm more inclined towards a 50s look than 20s or 30s...

I’ve done 40’s style floral tea dress / sun hat combo and also a fitted tweed jacket over wide leg trousers with a fedora style hat. Always with sensible shoes, think I wore brogue style with ankle socks both times.
You need a couple of options for the weather.
I always like the look of the ‘Land Girls’ but I’m not buying the khaki dungarees, they cost a bloody fortune!

If we go again ( doubtful as the price is outrageous and you can’t access the paddocks any more without mega tickets)
I’d go for the breton shirt / Navy cropped trousers and silk headscarf look, classic and timeless.
There are albums full of Revival fashions online, some take it VERY seriously!

Ooh I like the fitted tweed jacket over wide trousers idea. Also contemplating denim dungarees over blouse with headscarf, lady mechanic type look, or getting a jumpsuit which I would wear again anyway.

One off trip for a big birthday, we have bought the grandstand upgrade so hoping that gives us enough to see.
Yes it could be boiling hot or pissing down all day!

We’ve been 3 times and been lucky with the weather, last time was 8 years ago!
I bought my tweed jacket on ebay, it was ‘vintage’ 80’s from Next 🤣

House of Foxy do 50s era style clothes. I'm not sure on your budget but I've managed to get Hof stuff from Vinted.

Vivien of Holloway also do 50s style dresses.

Try Vivienne of Holloway for dresses and other 50s clothes. The sizes are all over the place (I take a 14 in some of her clothes and I’m a high street 10-12) but the clothes are beautiful and wearable elsewhere. Brogues are great for shoes and again wearable elsewhere. DD finds vintage stuff for her outfits, loads on eBay etc.

I go (DH huge petrolhead so goes every year for all 3 days - one day is good for me, 2 tooooooo many cars 😬) and I got v stressed out the first time because vintage is really not my thing. So I bought a wrap vintage-esque dress from seamstress of Bloomsbury, and I wear that with Saltwater sandals which look quite vintage, and are v comfy. Each time we go, it’s a 20k steps a day so I would never wear heels. I bought a (new) vintagey looking straw basket from Etsy. I didn’t mind spending a bit of money because it’s an annual thing and I wear the same thing every year!

Your suggestion of the lady mechanic sounds perfect - quite a few people do that and always look fab. The most difficult thing is having an outfit for 30 degree sun and 10 degree cold/rain tbh! Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks everyone, lots to think about and all these suggestions have made me realise that I do have a number of vintage-esque outfits already in my wardrobe, that could be jazzed up with a polka dot scarf (ideally budget is as low as possible unless it's something I'll wear a lot anyway.) 20k steps a day is epic, comfy shoes definitely required! I am really looking forward to it and seeing all the fantastic outfits (and, yeah...some cars maybe....).

When we went, I wore a "scenic" gathered skirt with a gypsy top (it was sweltering), fancying myself as a Sophie Loren type (so far from reality 😂). Probably wore espadrilles.

It was part of a package on the Orient Express thay we'd won in a draw and we had a fabulous day.
