What should I wear to pilates?

Going to start reform pilates with a gorgeous, glam friend...what can I wear that will be flattering? I'm happy with my overweight curves, but want to look stylish and not look like I'm sweating too much! I'm not a great fan of skin tight leggings and would like a top that covers my butt.
Am I asking too much? 😅

I really like this brand for sports clothing (though not for sweaty gym exercise) and they have yoga pants which aren't tight https://bambooclothing.co.uk/ I am sure I saw some in Sweaty Betty sale too

I also love the bamboo clothing brand mentioned above. However, you really don't want lots of loose fabric flapping around - it could get caught in the springs. Everyone at mine wears leggings.

Yeah, loose clothing isn't ideal for reformer pilates. Gym leggings and a longish but not flappy top are best IME. Also, the studio I got to requires everyone to wear grip socks for safety.

Enjoy the class!

Great advice! Thank you 🤗

I'm quite fond of these for yoga and pilates. Longish, not tight, but not flappy enough to get caught in anything.

Well I guess with the sweat issue you'd want something a little darker in colour (so it doesn't 'stick out' if that makes sense?). Regarding tightness, pilates avec binbag may be slightly difficult so you'd want something slightly form fitting (but not tight like you said). Canterbury make good quality gear and I've worn them to the gym.

Tops I've no clue but I'm sure anything will do, Nike make good running gear so I'd say they cover the sweat side of things rather well.

Kind Regards

I teach reformer in london and I’d recommend leggings and a loose t shirt, or long vest if that would make you too hot. If you wear socks then yes make them grip socks. My studio is super inclusive with all shapes and sizes and ages and I honestly never notice what people are wearing (though of course I get you want to be comfortable!) . I hope you like it! I’m a huge fan, so good for strength and posture and all the good stuff.

Thank you for the links 🥰
I'm super excited to try it. I normally do mat pilates at home and add in weights and resistance bands, so I'm hoping that this will be a more focused approach.

I wear sweaty Betty leggings and Pilates socks both purchased on vinted. I’ve tried loads of leggings at the SB Power 7/8 length are (for me, a curvy was 18 now 14) the absolute best. In fact, after 6mth of reformer I’ve just got my first ever new pair in the mega JL sale.

ANYWAY. So I wear those leggings and an HM very soft but supportive sports bra that’s like a ribbed crop top. I am a G cup and found my usual shock absorber bra was overkill. Then I sling a vest over the top.

don’t wear a watch or bracelet. Gets in the way. I hope you love it - it’s changed my life.
