If your boobs give you back pain ...

... Is there anything you've successfully done about it?

The only thing that works for me is a racer back bra. If I wear a regular bra for more than the occasional day, I start to get horrendous upper back, shoulder and neck pain.

But I don't want to always wear the racer back! I want to be able to wear a normal variety of dresses and vests without the racer back straps showing. Plus they're really hard to find! I have 2 from Bravissimo. I need a white one too really but it's another £40 which seems ridiculous just to exist with boobs and no pain.

I am wearing correct size (did A Bra That Fits). I'm not even especially huge, just 34G, which doesn't look huge on me because I'm tall. I have really broad shoulders then a comparatively narrow rib cage, so upper back is inverse triangle shaped and I wonder if that's part of the problem with the outer shoulders bearing the weight from the straps on normal bras.

So, has anyone found any strength exercises that help? Is it my posture? Am I doomed to only wear racer back bras and if so are there any cheaper ones?!

see your GP - ? Breast reduction
if increased weight - BMI more than 35 may be contributing
Pilates is the best muscle strengthening I know

BMI is average and I really don't think I'd be considered big enough for reduction. Pilates is a good call though, thanks. Will look into.

I was a 34C before I had DD and DS (the perfect size, because more than a handfuls a waste apparently 😂) I didn't have big belly bumps but my boobs got big and became knee knockers. I was also always plagued by neck pain that caused headaches a lot. I always got measured by M&S and now at 61, I'm a 44E. I eventually went to a bra fitting shop and had been wearing the wrong bra sizes all along. So turns out M&S sizing isn't great. I would recommend going to a professional bra fitting shop. My boobs are still knee knockers but I wear bras that fit and support me now and the sore neck and headaches are a thing of the past. Plus I can still get nice, pretty bras. ☺️

I also wouldn't recommend breast reduction. An old work colleague got one and was in excruciating pain after and still had pain for months. She wished she'd never had it done.

I have seen an osteopath and a physio for upper back pain and that's done the trick for a while! They can also suggest ongoing exercises you can do to strengthen your back/shoulders and improve posture etc. I found getting new bras from bravissimo helped too but you've already done that!
