Thread veins in legs, don't want sclerotherapy, is laser effective?

Excuse the long title!

I have thread veins I want removed but for a couple of different reasons I don't want sclerotherapy. Is laser any good? A waste of money? Half as effective?

I'd like to know the answer too, so bumping for you.

I'd especially like to know how thin they have to be to get treated by laser rather than removed. I'm hoping mine aren't too chunky....

Yes and no. The laser can reduce the appearance/get rid of them but you need to keep going back as more appear. Think of it as a yearly maintenance type of thing.

Sclerotherapy is far more effective. Is there any reason why you don’t want it? (It hurts less than laser) the needles are tiny- a bit like acupuncture needles if anything.

I found Sclerotherapy so painful I had to have the bed put back as I was fainting! (admittedly for varicose veins, not thread veins) - was my doctor doing something wrong/that could have been done better?

I had my sclerotherapy in surgery and went under! I had both legs done after giving birth as I could barely walk from the pain. I can't imagine being awake - took weeks in compression socks to heal but they are amazing now and you'd not know at all.

It does depend on the vein - if literally a small thread vein it should be fine but the lazer just zaps them to close the blood flow. I had this done on a facial vein and it has worked. Usual don't have a hot bath or do anything to re-rupture it while it heals.

I'm breastfeeding and sclerotherapy is contra - indicated for people who have had clots. I haven't had clots but am at a higher risk from them
