Shark Flexiwrap or Dyson Airwrap for a 20yo who hates her long unruly wavy hair?

I have a 20yo DD with severe MH issues that have left her pretty much housebound. One of her issues is around the way she looks, she thinks she looks unwell and disgusting (she does not) and she really hates her hair. She has long, very thick wavy hair. Some parts are curly, some wavy, some straight. If she washes it and leaves it to dry naturally it’s a ball of frizz. She doesn’t have the energy to straighten it (she did in the past and ruined it with heat).

So I was thinking for her birthday of buying her a styler that could dry and straighten and curl in the one go. If the Dyson is really good and worth the money I would buy her it if it improved her confidence even a little. 🤏 don’t want to buy one and it lies in a box unused (although I could use it).

So my question is, would you recommend either the Shark/Dyson for long, frizzy, wavy hair?

Genuine suggestion - how about cutting it?

When you say she leaves it to dry naturally, is she putting any products in it? She might just need some hair mousse to run through it before leaving it to dry. Personally I have found my frizzy wavy hair doesn’t get along well with the Dyson as it causes more frizz and flyaways even if I use the smoothing attachment first. It can look ok but it’s expensive if you don’t know how your hair will react. You could try a cheaper version, a hot brush maybe and see how that works but tbh if her hair is long and thick and she can’t be bothered to straighten, it will take even longer to use a hot brush or airwrap.

I would absolutely recommend the AirWrap - minimal effort and great results that hold, for me and all friends/relatives that have them.

Tbh the Dyson and Shark are both hard work

They are not quick fixes and take quite a while to master, I would suggest a decent cut to take some weight off, a decent pair of straighteners or a Brazilian blow dry to tame the frizz

Honestly, I’d recommend an appointment with a good curly hairdresser to get some tips on how to handle her hair.

Thanks for the replies, going to the hairdressers is very difficult for her. She had it shorter but it just stuck out more!!

I’m thinking if she can’t be bothered straightening it then the Airwrao may be a waste of money. She has Cloud 9s and GHDs
