Perfume for a boring lady:D

Since I had kids I barely can stand a perfume on me. Everything feels too strong and I get headaches. The only perfume I can tolerate is Shiseido Zen. However, it gets boring. I have been using it 3 years now!

Can someone recommend nice inoffensive perfume?

Some examples of perfumes I had and loved and are now too strong are Miss Dior Mademoiselle, Paco Rabanne Olympea and Lancome la vie.

Any suggestions?

I find Trussardi Donna to be pretty inoffensive, lemony and floral but quite soft and creamy also.

Another one!
Arran Aromatics After the Rain.

I found Arran a couple of months ago and I bought a set for a present! It was really nice indeed! May get one for myself!

Thank you. This sounds lovely and quite similar notes to zen so may be the one for me!

Jo Malone doesn’t last long on me so might be what you’re after have you considered body sprays rather than perfume so it’s not so intense ?

EllyGi · 23/06/2024 15:49

Ya, i always wanted to try jo malone, but the stars never aligned so I'm in their shop to check them out.

I also just remembered 10 years go I loved Molecules 01 on a colleague it smelled gorgeous - musky smell on her. On me it smelled like wood and was horrible.

Also anyone knows what Aerin Amber Musk is like? I like the sound of it but am thinking it maybe too strong.

Jo Malone is sold in John Lewis - it’s where I go to test their scents.

I've never smelled it, but "amber" and "musk" isn't going to be fresh and inoffensive. It's more likely to be a full on spicy skanky sex bomb! And Aerin is part of Estée Lauder which is a great (and underrated imo) perfume house, but never one for subtlety.

If you like lemon, Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien is my summer fresh go to scent.

I know I don't like woody smells. Most floral and clean smells I like. Not too floral though. It's not that much the smell than the intensity I guess. Some smells I do like but when I spray I can constantly smell that and that makes me feel sick ... so it's not that much whether I will like it, but more like would I be able to tolerate it. Thus, I'm not too fussed that it will last 2-4 hours as long as it feels bearable on my skin.

I even got a Nivea perfume, the most inoffensive smell and it was just so strong and yucky on my skin.

There are these perfumes I actually can tolerate but are so boring I stashed away -
Caudalie Thé Des Vignes
L'Occitane Cherry Blossom
DKNY be delicious

I'm totally broken after 2 children. 😅🤣

Try 4160tuesdays Tokyo spring blossom or wash me in the water
They do a sample set too

Try Missing Person by Phlur. I get compliments every time I wear it.

Clarins Eau Dynamisante

Fresh and herbal. It’s quite energising and uplifting…love it.

A friend who knows I like rose scents bought me a bottle from here for my birthday. It is quite lovely but on my perfume eating skin doesn't last long/have much impact. Might work for you!

Great! Enjoy it.

Twotimesrhymes · 01/07/2024 19:05

Emporium Armani is light and pretty but inoffensive (just smells slightly musky and clean)

wheresmyshoe · 01/07/2024 19:13

My go to pleasing and light are:

Sarah Jessica Parker - Lovely

I have a serious fragrance collection and this absolutely holds its own for pleasing, light, feminine. Given my usual taste is incense, tobacco and sin I was so surprised to enjoy this. An absolute classic and a bargain. Fragrantica rate it too, you can get it for around £16

The other lighter fragrance I enjoy is Narcisco Rodriguez - for her.

Beautiful and subtle but sensual

If you're after soapy clean then ouai - Melrose place

Arran Aromatics After the Rain.

This sounds like a nice one op. Essential oils of lime rose, sandalwood and they do a smaller 15ml size bottle for £21.

I was just about to recommend that exact one when I saw your update!

If you like that and get bored again in the future then you could try Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea, or some of the scents from Fragonard which are generally very pleasant and light.
