Vinted - what's the etiquette for resisting clothes?

I've just bought a dress on Vinted - BNWT at a bargain price. Annoyingly it's a bit small so I want to relist it.

What's the etiquette on price? She's sold it to me for too little, not by loads, but there are similar ones on there for double what I paid. Can I put it back on for the total price I paid I.e recoup my buyers fee and postage or is that viewed as massively cheeky?

Surely it's yours to do as you like with, and you list it for whatever price you want?

roses2 · 19/06/2024 08:23

Vinted doesn't have the option to search for sold item prices so unless she spends time stalking you she and other potential buyers won't find out how much you paid.

Moltenpink · 19/06/2024 08:27

Someone dropped me a message telling me they were relisting once. I thought that was good of them, I wouldn’t have checked. I told them to price as high as they like, I list cheap for quick sales

LaLaLouella · 19/06/2024 08:45

I guess I remember the 'pitchforks at dawn' response I saw on Facebook once from someone who discovered her items were being resold for more!

Vinted is that bit more anonymous I guess - I think I'll put it in for the total price I paid. That way I don't lose any money and someone else also gets a bargain.

Quite disappointed that this thread will not help me to resist buying clothes on Vinted. Shame on you, OP.

I couldn't care less if someone relists what they have bought from me. I wouldn't expect them to tell me.

DD1 is currently in this position as she bought a dress that doesn’t fit her as she wanted. I think she just wants to get some cash back for it,

PrettySenior · 19/06/2024 09:01

List it for whatever price you like - there is no "etiquette" on this and anyone who thinks there is would be unhinged. Highly unlikely the seller would even notice, anyway.

LaLaLouella · 19/06/2024 09:01

Vinted do also give you the option to list something when they ask for feedback so there must be the expectation that lots of clothes don't fit and go back up there to be resold. It's just the 'how much?' question.

I don't think I'm unhinged to be thinking about this! It's more about trying to be respectful to the community using Vinted I guess....

You'd need to recoup your total cost so you need to put it back on for at least what you paid.

If you did want to buy it in another size you'll end up paying more, so there's no reason not to boost the price a little. Personally I'd go halfway between what you paid in total and what the others are on for, given that you need to sell because it doesn't fit and won't want it hanging around too long. You then have room to accept a lower offer without losing money.

I didn't mean you, I meant anyone who might have a problem with you if you priced something higher than you'd bought it for!

KreedKafer · 19/06/2024 11:59

There's no real 'etiquette' on this so I wouldn't worry.

Lots of people say things in their listing like 'Bought on Vinted but doesn't suit me, so selling it for what I paid' if they want to make it clear that they're not selling at a profit. But you don't even need to say that, especially as its BNWT.

SnapdragonToadflax · 19/06/2024 12:03

To be honest I sometimes buy something with terrible photos if I can get it cheap, knowing that if it doesn't fit I can do a better job of listing and get more money.

Why not? It's yours to do with what you want.

Think of yourself and don’t worry about the others - there’s no etiquette here. Sell it for whatever you think people would pay for it.

AtomicBlondeRose · 19/06/2024 13:33

Eh, I bought some trousers for £2, they didn’t fit, relisted for £4 and sold them straight away. I don’t feel bad, the original seller could have done that too, and I didn’t buy them just to sell on.
