Measuring bust size

Can anyone help me out, there is so much conflicting advice online. Need to buy new bras, have lost weight in last couple of years. I measure 29.5 inches beneath my ribs and 35 around the fullest part of my bust. My local M&S only does measurings by appointment, apparently. Can anyone tell me what size I should be buying?!

Boob or bust website for sizing.

I think m and s aren't well made any more.

John Lewis have a better range.

Would start with 30E as a ball park

"A bra that fits calculator" and a bra that fits on Reddit. They're both great help.

If you have really soft tissue, I suggest shallow bras with wider wider. Use "bratabase" website to determine bra measurements and get other help. Panache Clara Side Support Bra, Chantelle Rive gauche, Chantelle Norah, and wacoal perfect primer are really amazing bras for women who's breastfed and has really soft tissue.

My entire life I was told in a 36C cup, when I'm actually a 32G, 34G, 32H depending on how the bra is made.

Another okish choice is Comexim. They're really pretty but you'll need to do research on how sizing actually works. Breakout bras carries most of the bras I've listed.

I did a virtual consult with Bravissimo the other day. Was sceptical but the bras I ended up buying fit perfectly so would definitely recommend. Was very quick, only took about 15 minutes.

Don't you have to add the inches to the first measurement to get your bra size, depending on the second one (the measurement round your bust)? (eg if there is a five inch difference). That's what I always thought. Now I'm even more confused! As Shabear says above, your own measurement can be completely wrong.

Nope, the band size is your underbust measurements, I rounded to 30 as you're closest to that
Then add 1 inch per cup size

Think the best thing to do would be to grab a few and head to the changing room at M&S, if they don't have a measurer onsite! Thanks.
