A tea dress from Warehouse from around 1991/1992. I loved that dress so much and if I could find it again I'm now able to sew well enough to take it apart and make copy upon copy upon copy. I still look around tea dresses on all sites/in shops etc looking for something approaching it.

Gonna be slammed for this... I had a purple shirt that I always seemed to get lucky when wearing.

Left it at the airport.

A grey off the shoulder T-shirt from H&M that I swear was NOTHING special so I didn’t think twice about throwing it away when it got one too many holes in it.

A sleeveless, ankle length tea dress from Miss Selfridge circa. 1989. It was patterned with pink cabbage roses and had a row of tiny buttons down the front. Twas a thing of beauty. I used to wear it with my black DM boots laced with pink ribbons. At the time I had blonde, spiral permed hair down to my waist and looked like I'd stepped out of a Pre-Raphaelite painting [weeps]

A few years ago I bought a trendier version of an old fashioned, see-through plastic rain bonnet. Sadly broke/lost the ones I bought and Selfridges no longer stock them. Would have been invaluable in the current weather.

Just about everything I bought from Topshop between about 2001 and maybe 2009/2010, which was a lot. Including shoes and jewellery.

A couple of white Kookai midi length skirts, especially the flouncy sequinned one.

Apart from that, a beautiful, multi coloured, velvet (okay, velour) backpack style bag that my cool auntie bought me circa 1994 when I was 11/12.

Wide leg navy/white polkadot trousers with matching sleeveless wrap over side buttoning top by River Island - circa 1990. I wore it to death - so much so that where my thighs swished together in the gorgeous silky material, the material distorted so the polka dots on my inner thighs looked more like ovals than circles!! Sadly by then, they were fit for nothing but the bin! I bloody loved that outfit...it even made my corkscrew perm look sophisticated!! 😂

Three things -

A pair of flared jeans with patch back pockets in a swirly blue, green and white sixties style pattern fabric that I got from Topshop in 1996.

A pair of low, black, pointed slip on shoes lined with bright pink leather with three lazer cut stars over the toe so the pink leather showed through. I spent more than I could afford on them in Office in 2000 and wore them until they literally fell apart.

A deep waist midi skirt in forest green cotton from Topshop. It had load of panels so it was a full parachute style skirt and each panel was separated by a vertical strip of green woven cotton ribbon. It was great and I wore it to death (bugger to iron though).

Topshop had some great stuff in the early to mid 2000s.

In the 80s I wore a lot of vintage 'hippy' skirts which were cotton with little mirrors sewn in to the design. I loved those. And lots of vintage waistcoats with silk backs - again I'd like those back please!

RosesAndHellebores · 17/06/2024 21:23

Oh a few things:

Early 80s: a turquoise sun dress from Laura Ashley with tie straps. I used to wear it with a white seersucker jacket.

Mid 80s: a grey, black velvet trimmed, fitted cashmere coat with a full skirt and double breasted military style buttons. It swished.

All from the 80's and 90's :

  • A grey sweatshirt mini dress from Miss Selfridge that I bought the same week Bananarama wore identical ones on Top of The Pops (proud)
  • A black ribbed backless bodycon midi dress that I slayed in at various office parties in - when office parties were actually fun!

A three piece grey flannel oversized man cut suit from John Lewis that was the perfect androgynous look - especially when worn with just the waist coat and trousers

Black velvet hot pants and a cream silk vintage blouse
wine velvet flared jeans
navy bootcut jeans with silver glitter
a pair of beige canvas jeans that I loved and have never been able to find a similar heavy weight pair
DM’s hand painted by my boyfriend

I miss the 90’s
