Anyone had this done? What was your goal and was it achieved?
And how much did you pay & your hair lenght

I assume you mean a keratin treatment?

sunshinegrey · 12/06/2024 22:14

@stressedespresso the salon I’m looking at offer both and apparently it is different

I’ve had a Brazilian blow dry if that’s what you mean? It’s been incredible. My hair is still wavy but straightens in minutes if I want it straight. It blow dries straight too. And best of all no matter what I do with it- there is no frizz at all. I absolutely love it.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 13/06/2024 08:19

I have had hair botox done a few times and loved it. My hair is straight so I didn't need the straightening one.

Results wise, it tamed my bit of frizz. I could get out of the shower, run a brush through it, let it air dry and it looked perfect.

I'm in Ireland and it costs about €120

sunshinegrey · 13/06/2024 18:22

I have curly hair but I don’t really want to make it straight permanently (had it like that many times before) my goal is to tame the frizz and nourish / hydrate and hopefully it will look sleek when I straight it at home

It is not easy because each salon call procedures different names

@NowYouListenToMeFella do you happen to know the name of the product they used? how long is it suppose to last? do you use special shampoos?

I guess I need to go for a consultation

I wanted hair botox when I was on holiday, but the salon talked me out of it, and I ended up with a Brazilian Blowdry. My local hair salon does hair botox, so I'll try it in a month or two.

Some good information here

I had it done. Botox doesn’t last long and only helps to make hair maybe slightly shinier and less frizzy. But I found that keratin+botox gives amazing results. I used to dye my hair a lot in school and ruined them, so keratin and botox together made my hair look like from a shampoo ad whilst I was growing it back healthy. My hair never (even in childhood) looked that great! Seriously, even strangers complimented my hair.
I don’t recommend doing just botox because the results are not visible and it washes away in 3 months. Keratin+botox on the other hand lasts for 6-9 months with special care (no SLS shampoo, drying hair with heat).
I have done keratin+botox for last 5-6 years (once every year), now I’m giving it a break but I will do it again in the winter. My hair length was down my waist, now I cut it to below my shoulders and it is all healthy. However I want the amazing shine and the straight hair which keratin gives.
Regarding the cost, I do it in my home country so it was cheap (around £30).
In conclusion, I don’t recommend botox by itself. With keratin - yes. Just for understanding, I’m attaching photos below. It’s it real results after 1 procedure (usually takes about 4 hours for thick long hair).

@sunshinegrey they use cocochoco for it in my salon. Haven't used any other brand. I find it lasts over 3 months. I use sulphate free shampoo and conditioner so didn't need to buy special ones.

Thank you all

Had a consultation today and the hairdresser and salon owner both talked me out from hair botox saying that it will not work for my hair. They recomended the keratin treatment. As both treatments are the same price I trust they are giving good advice.

My hair is 35% grey especially at the front which makes it very brittle and frizz even with professional blow dry.

I promised to myself to never do keratin again as I can’t stand the grow out root but since I’m not wearing it curly anyway due to the lengh, I might just have to bit the bullet.

I found a botox hair mask online and will use it 1x week with a heated cap

Here is the description of the treatment

Kerasilk Keratin Treatment is an innovative solution designed for smooth, frizz-free hair, lasting up to 3-5 months. Crafted with a Vegan formula, it features biomimetic silk protein and is entirely free from animal testing and harsh chemicals, including formaldehyde. It offers a perfect way to achieve effortlessly manageable hair with a sleek finish.

I've had Kerastraight done a couple of times on my naturally curly hair and it worked very well, I'd straighten once after washing and that would last til the next wash.
Only issue was my hair needed washing WAY more frequently due to becoming horribly greasy very quickly and lay just too flat with no volume. If your hair is super thick (which I thought mine was due to seeming so when curly) then be prepared to wash it more than you ever have!

Greengrapeofhome · 14/06/2024 22:35

Brazilian blow dry is the way. I’ve had kerastraight before and the Brazilian blow dry has been so much more effective. I love that I can leave my hair to air dry wavy without frizz too

sunshinegrey · 14/06/2024 22:43

I will check if kerasilk is the same as kerastraight

I have done brazilian blow dry too many times, always regret, always end up chopping my hair off after while when the regrowth becomes unbereable

What happens with your re growth? Brazilian blow dry isn’t a straightening treatment- I can still have my hair wavy- and over time the frizz starts coming back (after about 4-6 months) all over and it needs doing again.

The many brazilian blow dry I had in the past (or whatver other name it is called) permanently make the hair straight. So if I don’t continue having treatment peridiocally, I end up with curly roots on a straight hair. It is possible to have re-touches as you would with hair dye but after while it just looks terrible and the hair looks dry and unhealthy, especially the ends.

I have used a number of different products and professionals, all price points and have had the procedure done in Brazil many times too.
