I think you've cracked it, Tarheel

Debenture seats aren’t really smarter than any other seats, just some of the restaurants and corporate entertainment areas that you may be invited to have people in them making a bit more of an effort. I’d still tend to the practical especially with this weather we are having! Hope you have a great day.

It's smart casual OP - you are stressing too much. I bet you have a suitable bag.

Thank you all for your help, good wishes and encouragement. I really appreciate it. A ridiculous first world problem to have.

Unless you're in the Royal Box, Centre Court is not especially smart. Let's face it, people in the front rows will have been sleeping in The Queue for a night or two, and "washing" with wet wipes 😂 As everyone has said, it's practicality all the way -- especially with bags and footwear.

Op is in the debenture seats, which are not in the front rows, will not contain people washing with wet wipes and which are not available to The Queue AFAIK. Pairs of debenture seats on Centre are £3k+ per day.

Yes, I know, but the debenture seats are only a few rows away, and the point remains that people don't particularly dress up on Centre Court.
I have been in debenture seats AND The Queue over the years, so I am aware.

SheilaFentiman · 13/06/2024 21:11

Awesome.

SheilaFentiman · 13/06/2024 21:12

I dressed up a little for the debenture seats and would have felt uncomfortable in trainers etc

But we are all different.

I must say I had a bit of a laugh at this thread. I've just spent three days at the Nottingham Open and the dress code was waterproof coats, jumpers, backpacks etc. It was freezing a lot of the time, with some brief bursts of warmth. And of course rain!
But the tennis was brilliant. Really enjoyable. That's what we went for: to see good tennis.
I don't understand how sporting events become all about what to wear. It's the same with horse racing. That should be about the horses and the sport, not a fashion parade!

StripedPiggy · 13/06/2024 23:09

I was at the tennis in Nottingham today. It was bloody freezing so, unless the weather has become more like summer by the time Wimbledon starts (and the long-range forecast isn’t exactly optimistic) I would recommend wearing jeans, boots, several fleeces, a bobble hat & a blanket.
