Lost my glow!

What products do people use to get a glow? I used to have glowy skin but it feels drier now and dehydrated. I need my glow back!

Also any good powder to reduce the shine but not mattify? I think the one I’m using is ageing me. But my own skin is a bit oily to not use anything…

Diet, hydration and sleep - perhaps you're ageing, perhaps your body is telling you what it needs.

Vitamin C. I think it does a great job of reducing dull tired looking skin.

I'm not sure how your skin can be both dehydrated and oily at the same time but overall, I'd recommend a good cleanser at night and a vitamin C serum under your moisteriser. I like the Ordinary 23% one at night as it has a slightly exfoliating effect which is also helpful for dullness (23% might be a bit high as a starter though so be a bit cautious or explore other vitamin C serums to start).

A vitamin C moisteriser in the morning is a good choice too to help with boosting glow.

Also, the Clarins Gentle Peeling [[https://www.clarins.co.uk/skincare-face-exfoliators-masks/260/?start=0&sz=36&scrollTo=C010201006 www.clarins.co.uk/skincare-face-exfoliators-masks/260/?start=0&sz=36&scrollTo=C010201006 is a fantastic boost. Use it about once a week if you like although I tend to only bother once a month or so, usually before an event or a night out.

A good primer can be helpful too. I have been using the Elf SPF primer and it definitely makes me feel good. It's a bit too shiny for me, but as I always apply foundation over, that's fine.

Exfoliators & Masks

Rejuvenate dull, tired-looking skin with an exfoliating face mask. Browse scrubs, masks and more. Find your perfect exfoliator from Clarins.

"I'm not sure how your skin can be both dehydrated and oily at the same time".

It totally can, dry skin lacks oil, dehydrated skin lacks water.
My own skin is combination on the oily side and dehydrated.

For dehydrated skin you need things like hyaluronic acid while for dry skin you need richer creams with some oil ingredient (not mineral oil, that's just bad)

Mac Strobe cream or similar added to your foundation will give you a glow.

oh, good point. I did actually know that as my skin is both dry and dehydrated (naturally - i put a lot of effort in so it's not like that most of the time) but I'd sort of forgotten!

Best products for a natural "glow" (in my opinion):

Glossier Futuredew Serum
Jones Road Miracle Balm
Dove gradual tanning lotion
Chanel Les Beiges bronzing cream

Thanks all that’s brilliant. I was using Drunk Elephant vitamin C and I may go back to that. Also I switched out my hydrating serum for a different one, think I need to go back to the old faithful La Roche Posay. I started on Sam bunting intensive moisture cream but my skin doesn’t seem to like it, annoying as I have had it recommended and the reviews are good. I have slight rosacea so need to be careful with what I put on my skin.

I may try Hourglass powders as I do like the bronzer. I do drink loads of water, don’t drink alcohol. I eat healthily etc…The Jones Road balm looks good.

For shine, I use a primer and setting spray. I also lightly use a bit of pressed powder on my t zone. I use Boots no 7, which does the job ok. I’ve heard great things about Laura Mercier’s powder, but haven’t tried it myself as I’m pale and I’ve also heard it can run a bit yellow.

I rate Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter. I also feel more glowy using cream blush (I love Westman Atillier)

Make sure you are hydrated - good moisturiser morning and evening and drink water!

In terms of skincare products, the Caudalie vinoperfect is sooo good but it’s £££ now. At nighttime I actually prefer glycolic acid or niacinamide over retinols.

Regular hydrafacials also give a lovely glow but they are v v expensive.

The Nars tinted moisturiser has been my go to base for a while now. Got my friend onto it too and I couldn’t believe how good her skin looked when I saw her last 🤣

I’m using a few different things.

I’m using Sunday Riley CEO serum followed by Afterglow at the moment. I like it a lot, but not sure I will replace as I have used other things I rate just as highly, if not more.

La Roche Posay Vit C serum is totally up there for me. Sometimes I then follow this with a few Clarins tanning drops in my moisturiser and afterwards I have had a lot of compliments about my skin, and looking fresh. I don’t wear any makeup on top of this.

I also use Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter and/ or Wonderglow

I had a sample of Clarins SOS primer and that was super glowy.

I am a bit of a skin care nut, and try lots of different things. I keep going back to La Roche Posay Toleraine as my skin loves it.

Good diet consists of 70% of the skin and health. Along with that a skincare routine may help. Here is my routine that I follow:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Vanicream moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

Skin glow (and general health) essentials for me; deep sleep, a colourful, anti-inflammatory diet high in Vit C and no processed/takeaway foods, brisk daily walk, avoiding stressful situations/negative people as much as possible + AM; cleanse, moisture, SPF (all year round) and PM; cleanse, custom Tret/Niacinamide formula (prescribed by Monderma), moisturise. Healthy lifestyle focus with a straightforward & effective skincare routine should always come before most things bought over a counter. Once your skin is healthy it’s then lovely to enhance that with minimal glowy coverage that protects from the elements too. Trinny London, Charlotte Tilbury, Garnier, Rosalique (great for rosacea coverage) and numerous other brands offer these lightweight tinted solutions.
