Chemo hair loss suggestions

I'm about to start chemo and have been told I will probably loose my hair. I'm a young fifty and a lot of the turban/head coverings I have seen are a little boring. I really don't like that stretchy T-shirt material that a lot of them seem to be made of. Please has anybody seen any lovely head coverings, or have you any suggestions for anything else, I could try.

Sorry to hear you're having to go through chemo. Have you thought about using scarves? Silk or similar would feel nice and be lightweight for the summer (if we get one!) and you can get any colour/pattern you choose. There's some good videos about different ways to tie the like this one

These are rather lovely - luxurious and addictive. Maybe not for the hottest days but I know people who wear either the turbans or the ear warmers all year round, indoors and out. As they are expensive you may want to start priming your most generous gift givers. (I have often bought in the sales.)

Sorry you are going through this. Ibthink the best turbans are the ones you do yourself. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube which I find quite helpful and you can choose scarves you like.

When I lost mine I went scarf mad just kept buying, unfortunately most days I couldn't handle the faff so ended up with the pre tied ones or my wig (on hot or itchy days I couldn't handle that either) I spent hours on you tube. There are loads of demos

Sorry to hear you're going through chemo. From experience with my mum the best advice I can give is have plenty of choice. It's really unpredictable how you'll feel, what will make you feel inexplicably flustered or lacking the energy to be bothered to do.

My mum didn't think she'd be a wig person but they ended up being the ones she wore most and then indoors it was a soft cashmere hat. She assumed she'd be a scarf person but ended up hating the feeling despite being a lifelong silk scarf wearer so it's best to just have plenty around and whatever works will be there in the moment.

Are you going to use a cold cap? It makes the chemo process a bit longer and the headaches are painful, but I only lost a bit of hair right on the top of my head, the rest was ok.
I also went for a lovely pixie style crop so the hair is less likely to fall out with brushing. Dry shampoo is your friend with chemo, less need to wash under water which I found was when more hair came out.
Good luck.

I've been through chemo hair loss and although I thought I would wear scarves I found them a big faff. In the end I wore turbans. I think the key is soft fabrics as my scalp got easily irritated by anything remotely rough. I used to wear them in bed too because my head got very cold otherwise and it would wake me up

I’m sorry to hear you need chemo. When I had chemo and did cold cap but still lost quite a lot of hair. I had a wig and various types of head coverings but didn’t get on very well with them. Mostly, I wore a woollen beanie hat but it was winter.

maybe a cap? Or a bucket hat?

I actually found I wasn’t going out and about as much, to avoid infection and also due to tiredness, so didn’t need to wear anything more than a beanie very often.
