I've had ages, but I'd hoped to lose more weight so I've had my head in the sand and now I've run out of time! Ideally I wouldn't spend money of a new dress or accessories, but I can do if it will make me feel really good.

I'm 5'3, size 16, mid forties, and with a lumpy tummy as a particular problem.

The only dress I have at home as an option is the navy pattered one. It fits and is nice and forgiving around the middle. Plus I like that the worst of my upper arms are slightly covered. But I don't think the length is the most flattering. What do you think of it?

For comparison, the white patterned dress is a Phase Eight which I was helped to find on here a few years ago when I'd lost weight. It doesn't do up any more so it's not an option but I'm sharing the photo for comparison of the different length dress. I feel like the length is better, but the under bust band style could be a bit too maternity at the moment and I'd prefer my arms covered.

Please let me have your kind thoughts and suggestions. Any new ideas would need to come from somewhere who will deliver quickly like Next or John Lewis.

1, 3 or 5
They all suit you.

YorkNew · 14/06/2024 16:47

I think you would the ones with the straight hems more.

PeachPairPlum · 14/06/2024 16:48

I like 1b and both of your previous pics . The red and blue dress and the blue dress.

YorkNew · 14/06/2024 16:50

The sandals you have on look nice.

No 4 is very classy and elegant

Easily 1 or 5! 5 wins for me, and yes your shoes are nice. Do you have a lighter coloured bag to go with them? I try to avoid going matchy matchy, maybe a gold, tan or raffia bag? The shapewear doesn't make much difference with a-line dresses, so don't bother with it. I never wear shapewear to weddings, it's too long a day and I end up with reflux from all the fizz getting pushed back up my oesophagus!

SneakyScarves · 14/06/2024 17:15

Love 3 actually, the colours and fit look great on you

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 14/06/2024 17:17

I vote 1.

I like the beige shoes. If you have an accessory (clutch, shawl, jewelry) royal blue will look good.

thinkfast · 14/06/2024 17:26

I vote 3 (but they all look great OP)

I like it too but is it a little big on top, if so can you have it altered.

TemuSpecialBuy · 14/06/2024 17:49

I love 3 i think it looks great bith interms of colour and fit and i like that its a "confident" print.

NellyElly1 · 14/06/2024 17:54

I'm really surprised no one voted 6! That suits you so much! I love it.

NellyElly1 · 14/06/2024 17:56

It doesn't look like I can edit my comments yet but 1 and 2 are really nice too.
So 1, 2 and 6 is my vote.

Comefromaway · 14/06/2024 18:08

I like 1, 3 & 4

MartyFunkhouser · 14/06/2024 18:12

The darker dress does you no favours. The lighter one is much better. If you could get that style but longer, it’d be fab.

MartyFunkhouser · 14/06/2024 18:15

Sorry, saw your updates. 5 is most flattering.

SneakyScarves · 14/06/2024 18:21

I really like the top half of 6 but the hemline throws me off. Maybe it's just a tad too long?

Instantcustard · 14/06/2024 18:22

No 3 by far!

Thisoldheartofmine · 14/06/2024 18:39

@NellyElly1 I'm with you, nos 6. Or nos 5.
I initially dismissed 6 because of hemline. But when I opened the full pic, thought it looked better.

Sallyingon · 14/06/2024 18:51

It's a strong 6 from here. But like them all. Hurray!

Footinturf · 14/06/2024 18:57

I vote number 6, it's lovely and very flattering

Sallyingon · 14/06/2024 18:57

And the b pics are extra good if u can stand it!

Teapotsgalore · 14/06/2024 19:04

A vote for number 4 here. Maybe with pale blue/ grey nail varnish

Teapotsgalore · 14/06/2024 19:10

6 is nice too , that style top suits you.
