Best mascara for an older woman

I'm late 50s and my lashes are shorter and more sparse than in my youth. Any recommendations for a mascara which will open up my eyes and produce a good look without being clumpy or too over the top and fake looking?

I usually use Rimmel products which are ok.but I don't find the mascara amazing. Don't mind paying more, I'd even consider some of the higher end ones of around £30 if they genuinely do the job.

I swear by Lancome Hypnose. I have hardly any lashes and never have.
It's not cheap - about £28- but there are often 20% off offers from big stores.

I also got a free full size sample of Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye mascara which is almost as good. It seems to stay put and be harder to remove than Hypnose.

I've been looking for a cheaper version of either so if anyone has any ideas, do shout.

I just bought the Prime Prometics mascara in blue and it’s really good! Has a built in lash growth thingy. Expensive but so far I’m really liking it, and they’re cruelty-free. I’m going to buy the brown one as well.

I haven't heard of Ruma or Prime Prometics. Are they stocked in shops or do you buy online?

I bought the ruma online

Older than you and trashed my lashes with extensions. I love Clinique Lash Power which was recommended on here. Don't find the No 7 version very good at all.

The one I always return to is L’Oreal Telescopic. It’s the best for lengthening imo.

Not sure if it’s relevant to you but if you find mascara transferring to your upper eyelids as you age, you might want to look into a tubing mascara.

Yes agree to tubing mascara

Was so much better for my sparse old lashes

I like Eyeko mascaras

I'm 64 OP and I've had the same problem for a few years now. I've tried loads of mascaras, high end and cheap, many recommended on here.

I got a very good one in Primark but I didn't like how the brush felt, very scratchy. I got the L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Panorama Mascara, pretty good but I found that I had lots of black flecks under my eyes after a couple of hours.

I tried a Mac one, not impressed. Same with Bobbi Brown, very meh for the price.

The best I've found is Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara. It's tubing so is easily removed with warm water and whatever facial cleanser I'm using. I apply 2 coats and go right into the lashes so I also get a tightlined look. It doesn't clump and doesn't budge all day. Well worth the (ridiculous) price. I always use the black as I wear glasses so need more impact.
