Hi all

My nails always chip off and break. I am doing gardening a lot of washing up etc, I recently got acrylics for an event and they are due to come off now...my natural nails underneath have grown a lot. I now want to look after them make them stronger. I was looking at gel kits online with the lamps etc as whenever I used to paint my nails it would always flake off, I can't afford to keep going to salons so this seemed a more viable option, has anyone got any recommendations of places they order from for gels etc? Or if there is some miracle product that would make my nails hard and less brittle I'd love to know! I do take multivitamins and all that as well

Thank you

Avoid at home gels, you can easily develop an allergy to the chemicals if it gets on your skin and then once you're sensitised it can even impact you having surgeries as they use the same chemicals.

I'd recommend nail wraps. They're easy and last for a few days of you're like me and very rough with hands, or over a week of you're a normal person.

If you can paint your nails proficiently with polish, you should be able to handle gels

The golden rule with gel is do not cure it to the skin

In Covid I started doing my own nails. I got the starter kit from Mylee. It has everything you need. It will take practice, the nail prep is very important, and gels are thicker than normal polish, but it’s great being able to do my nails myself, and not having to wait hours for them to dry.

I also have Mylee and really like it. Definitely read up on the allergy risks though - don't cure any that gets on your skin, don't mix and match brands. I can get a good result, but it is time consuming to do it properly.
