What cover up to wear with this wrap dress for a wedding?

I've just bought this lovely wrap dress from M&S to wear to a wedding on Saturday but the forecast isn't looking the warmest now and I haven't got a clue to what to wear to keep me warm now!

I'm a size 12, big boobs and will be wearing it with a pair of navy and cork wedges. It's a church wedding followed by marquee on the groom's farm so I definitely need something to keep me warm. The sleeves are quite loose with a lot of material so it always needs to be something that isn't going to leave them horribly crumpled when I take it off for the meal.

Do you think a pashmina or a cropped jacket would look best? Or something else? Any recommendations to a specific item would be hugely appreciated as I haven't a clue how to dress my post-baby body these days and as it's a posh wedding I would like to feel nice and my usual scruffy jeans-clad self!

Huge thanks in advance!

Btw The blue is a slightly deeper blue than it looks in the photos, and it's a white background.

Id go for a white linen blazer - M+S have some lovely ones.

I wear pashminas to weddings, I don't give a hoot if anyone thinks they are out out out. They often work when nothing else will, and look elegant too.

I have a trick I use to turn the shawl into a sleeved cover up if you want to try practise it with an old scarf?

Lay the wrap down flat, attach the corners of the two short ends of the oblong together. Slip arms through and voila, you have a lovely draped "thinggy" ! I use sparkly little hair claws to attach the corners together.

I hope you can follow what I mean. Alternatively you can just wear it draped whatever way looks good on you. I have two light cashmere wraps (bought on hols for cheap), one grey with silver threading, and one pale mushroom with gold threads. They go to every single wedding with me! I find jackets mess up the sleeves of dresses as you pointed out.

I plan to wear a pashmina to a wedding later this year. There are some lovely ones. A pashmina won’t crush your sleeves like a blazer would.

I would put a thin long sleeved top underneath it, plus a thermal vest, to add warmth through layers. I use this technique when I'm gigging outside and it works great.

A long sleeved top underneath short sleeved dress?? I get what you mean about layers in general, but I'm not sure it's the best idea for a wedding. The layers would have to come off when the dancing and sweating starts lol!

A thermal vest for a summer wedding??

White linen blazer is a good call, I will go and have a look at M&S now. Do you think a cropped one would work better with the proportions of the dress or a longer line one? I am 5'6" so the dress comes to my ankles, plus wedges to then add a few extra inches.

Re pashmina suggestion, do you think a blue one, or white, or go completely contrasting like a raspberry pink?

I get where you're coming from re long sleeve top, but I think it will completely spoil the look of the dress and I am aiming to look elegant and classy (where possible!) but am on a budget.

If the weathers wet it's not such an issue as the church will probably have heaters on and we will be inside the marquee for the reception, it's more that if it's dry and cloudy and we're outside with canapés etc then it doesn't take much of a breeze to make it really chilly. I am already planning enormous Bridgets underneath which will help with the warmth too! It's just needing something to keep me arms warm because if I'm cold then I will be miserable.

And any thoughts on fascinators?? The dress code says to wear a hat, but high I totally missed that but 😬 so I have been looking ones that can be Amazon prime next day delivery! I will find pics of the ones I've narrowed down to.

I think the colour of the first one looks like it matches the blue in the dress best. But I have navy wedges and bag, so should fascinator also be navy? I am brunette and fair skinned for what it's worth.

Wow OP, a fascinator, a pashmina, Bridget knickers, and a thermal vest! You go girl and to hell with the fashion police!

I think I'd try raspberry pink wrap and bag, blue headgear and shoes. White wrap will be too white for a wedding I think.

A thermal vest for a summer wedding??

We aren't having much of a summer! But the idea was layers underneath, take inspiration from it as feels suitable

Yes, it works well with floaty sleeves over tight ones. And it you get hot it's easy enough to remove a layer in the toilets. Far better than a hideous pashmina over, anyway.

I would wear a long navy coat (preferably Summer weight wool, or heavy linen) draped over your shoulders rather than using the sleeves.
