Anyone use a single blade safety razor?

As per the title really. I keep seeing adverts saying they're the best shave you'll ever have, but can anyone actually vouch for that?

Can you/do you use them on more intimate areas to remove all the hair?

And how do you dispose of the blades?

Thanks!

I sometimes borrow my husband’s safety razor - with a new blade in - for shaving my legs. It’s a closer shave but I find it hard to hold when wet in the shower as the handle is less shaped than the fancier disposable ones. The grip is fine for shaving a face I assume, but not ideal for your ankles.

Sometimes.

I bought a cheap one for under £15 a long time ago.

It's all about the blades tbh. The handles are fine, but it's the blades that make the shave.

I use it on my legs when I want very very smooth legs because a really good blade will get very smooth in one 'swipe'

There is a learning curve though so bear that in mind. If not careful, you will strip skin off like using a potato peeler on a block of cheese.

Put it on your leg at 90degrees, tilt the handle back towards yourself as you move the razor slowly towards you. You'll find the right angle pretty quick.

I have done for years. Mine came from Amazon and I get the blades on Ebay.
If I had to buy again, I'd buy one with blade adjustment, as mine doesn't always shave as close as I'd like, so I unscrew it a little. Also I've very read reviews recommending a longer handle for legs, I sit in the bath to shave, so this makes no difference to me. I only shave the edges of my bikini area by choice, nothing to do with my razor. It took a bit of practice not to catch the back of my ankles.
To dispose of blades I put it in the wrapper from the new blade and just bin it. Although we once renovated a house which had a slot in the bathroom cabinet, had no idea what it was, until we pulled out the rotten plasterboard, the wall contained lots of rotten, rusty razor blades which had been posted through the slot! No idea if this was a one off or common at the time.

I do, but I only shave my underarms (epilate my legs, don't remove other hair).
I bought a Rockwell 6C in 2019, I've definitely saved money and am very happy with the results. They feel as safe as disposables, though they sit differently during use. I've yet to cut myself.

Now you've prompted me to upgrade - Has anyone seen or got a wooden handled adjustable safety razor? Mine has a bamboo handle, but I can't seem to find an adjustable version?
And re. The disposal, you can get a little container to dispose of them safely, just noticed them on Amazon, although I wouldn't bother myself.

Yep, I love it, you can use on legs and under arms easily though it does handle differently from disposable razors.
I don't remove "bikini" area and not sure how easy it would be as safety razors are much more bulky.
I bought blades from an independent shop for 50p for five blades! (Before this kind of razor became popular again) I dispose of the blades in an old metal money box (previous posters mention a slot in the bathroom cabinet that was really common to dispose of the blades that way)
I use old fashion shave soap either block soap or Palmolive cream .

Thanks everyone. I'm still undecided, especially as it doesn't sound like they'd be the best for intimate hair removal. Useful tips though!
