How to counteract brassy / orange dyed brown hair

I get my hair dyed at the hairdressers to counteract the amount of grey l have. Problem is it goes a brassy / orange colour in between appointments which l hate! I have been using the Bleach London silver conditioner -leftover from when l was blonde and l love the way it smooths my hair. But is there something more suitable out there?

Have you tried blue shampoo? That counteracts the orange tones. Purple is more for brightening yellow. Worked for me when I used to have highlights that reacted to the summer sun.

No, l haven’t tried blue. See this is what l was thinking and l was on the wrong track with the silver. Do you have brand (s) you could please recommend?

Yes I think it's blue shampoo you need - I have brassy blonde hair and was using blue shampoo. My hairdresser said no, blue is to correct orangey brown hair, and purple counteracts yellow in blondes. So I think you need to go blue!

Aussie do a blue shampoo and conditioner for brown hair, it does help to tone down the brassy orange colour in my hair.

I didn’t use anything fancy, just something from Boots. John Frieda has a blue shampoo, but there are others about as well. I think it’s a bit of trial and error depending on your hair tbh.

I use Fanola no yellow shampoo. It really is excellent but quite drying so have some good conditioner.

You need to ask the hairdresser to dye you hair an ash brown (blue/green based brown) as this doesn't fade to orange. It's the shade of brown dye you're using not the shampoo.

I highly recommend the Osmo blue shampoo. It works miracles for orange tones . Although I would follow with a deep conditioner as it can leave your hair feeling dry.
