If yours is wavy not curly, what products do you use?

I use silicon free shampoo and conditioner, wash, conditioner and rinse then when my hair is very wet, I put a tiny bit of the conditioner on my fingers and run it through my hair as a leave in conditioner. I also sometimes put a bit of mousse on when it is very wet. Then I pat off the worst of the wetness and let it air dry. When it was longer I sometimes dried it with a diffuser. Never brush your hair.

I thought my hair was wavy but it is developing into spiral curls now.

I have thick, wavy hair and use merwave products - works for me.

Umberto Giannini curl jelly. Not expensive either.

I have thick, wavy hair with the odd ringlet and odd stubborn straight bit. This is what my new hairdresser sent me after my first appointment with her:

'Here is some information on the styling routine I followed during the appointment.

It doesn't have to be followed exactly but it's just a guideline that I find works well for most hair types and I think it'll work well for yours, feel free to change the products to whatever you love to use!

Wash day =

Wash hair using a sulphate/silicone free, moisturising shampoo/cleanser & conditioner

✨use a cotton t-shirt or microfibre towel if wrapping hair after washing instead of traditional towel, DO not Rub hard or scrub to dry.

Personally I like to take the drips of water away from the hair but apply the products to almost soaking wet hair. This reduces the chance of 'stringy' curls.

✨ Brush hair from root to tip to unlock any frizz at the root before applying products.

✨apply products to soaking wet hair by raking with wide fingers.

✨brush hair from root to tip and rake finger through to separate hair - you can then comb if you like to create thicker curl clumps.

✨spray hair with silicone free leave in conditioner if extra hydration is needed

✨add a pound sized amount of curl gel and brush through then scrunch.

✨add another small amount of gel & serum (about 50/50)

comb & rake through then use brush to ensure all strands are coated. .

✨ tip head both sides and upside down while scrunching to get root lift & add mousse.

✨let air dry or diffuse on Medium heat & medium speed, do not move the diffuser around to much, stay in one place for a couple of minutes.

try not to disturb the curl while drying.

If drying to 100% dry then scrunch out the crunch with Fluid oil (or something similar - silicone free)

✨if you let it dry naturally remember to scrunch out the crunch when it is dry (if you do it when it's wet it will be frizzier)

If the product you have used has left a cast on the hair use some oil to scrunch. 😊

morning refresh =

the above but instead of washing just separate the hair in to 4 sections and spray till wet and then continue the next steps as before. Use less product or none at all if there is enough from previous application.

after dry you can fluff up at the root by shaking and scrunching. '

I have thin wavy hair. I use a silicone free shampoo daily and a leave in light conditioning spray. I deep condition once a week, the morning after swimming. On supermarket own brand, nothing fancy. I can't not wash daily, greasy hair since being a teenager

saturnspinkhoop · 06/06/2024 12:20

I have exceptionally frizzy wavy hair. I wash my hair upside down, to help with a bit of root lift. I use all silicone free products. At the moment I’m using Plantur 39 shampoo but sometimes Ibuse Noughty detox shampoo to remove hard water deposits. For conditioner, I use a Noughty frizz one or the Garnier hair food masks. I use a wide tooth comb to get knots out while my hair is coated in conditioner.

After rinsing, I squeeze out excess water put a tiny blob of Boots curl cream through it. More in winter. I then use L’Oréal invisihold gel. I scrunch upside down, then flip right way up and add more gel and scrunch more. When it’s mostly dry, I add more gel.

Protein drops can be useful , if your hair likes it, to boost curl.

Glycerin is a funny ingredient. I’ve found I’m better without it in the summer and with it in the winter, due to how to draws water into the hair.

Thick wavy hair here - I'm a bit new to this as my waves suddenly appeared...

Anyway I use Aveeno as a clarifying wash every 3 shampoos and Tresemme Colour Pro shampoo and conditioner inbetween. I add a squirt of protein drops to the conditioner as my hair just loves protein as it's highlighted.

I use a good blob of Harry's sculpting gel which I brush through with a tangle teaser and then dry til it sets hard with a diffuser. Once properly dry I scrunch out the curls and it's good to go

Anything marketed for 2B or 2C fine hair.

Would always be SLS and silicone free and use a lot of conditioner
