House if colour or Colour me beautiful?

I am thinking of getting my 'colours' done. As well as getting some style and colour advice. Overall i need a bit of a shake up for clothes make up and hair. I've always wanted to get this done since we had a work do where as a treat they had a consultant come in and give a talk on style and how it plays out in the public world eg politians and he then basically did a whistle stop tour on all of us and said what colours/season he thought we were. I just can't remember what he said i was as it was so long ago. From all I've read I'm def a cool person, so I would like to go and have a proper consultation, but im just not sure which one would be best
Has anyone had this done, was it worth it, are there any other options I'm unaware of?

I am 58 and while I want to look better I don't want to look too sensible and stereotypically 58 as I don't have that kind of life. I'm very casual dresser, i'm single, no children and have a dog but want some tips on looking a little more modern for my weird shape and age when the need arises.

House of colour is just seeing which colours suit you. There is a second appointment where you look at styles. TBH just wearing clothes that have complimentary colours is a good start

I went with house of colour. Definitely worth the money. I was advised to start small and just bought a scarf in a colour from my season (Autumn) I wouldn’t have picked before and I was amazed how many compliments I got! I agree the colours are a great starting point but the style is worth doing later down the line too.
It’s not cheap but it’s saved me money but not buying things that I’ll never wear because it doesn’t look right.

Following for tips as I really want to get my colours done too.
Similar age and casual dresser too OP.
I'm on a positive weight loss journey and getting rid of my old clothes from wardrobe and I really have no idea what colours actually look good on me .

Im thinking of booking Colour me Beautiful as there are no HOC agents within 2 hours travel. Im trying to justify the cost as an investment in myself and not wanting to end up with a garish new wardrobe of smaller clothes that don't suit me.

I did an online free thing with Colorwise.me. It’s pretty basic, you upload a photo and use their highlight tool on your photo to pick out your eye, skin and hair colour. I came out as soft autumn which I think is probably a really good shout. It gives you a colour palette that encircles your photo, so you can see how you look with the colours “suited” to you. Have to say, mine were mostly very much colours I would go for but it also opened my mind to more greens for instance. I’ve been buying a few things in the colours which are new to me, and have to say I’m very pleasantly surprised.

You can also add colours from other “seasons” to your palette to see how they look. I’ve worn red, black, white and hot pink in the past and when I added those to the palette I could see how awful they looked on me! Won’t be buying those again.

I’m a similar age to you OP. Have a play with this for free first, see what you think.

Thanks to you all !! The Colorwise.me seems like a great place to start. It feels.like it is a bit more self directed. It's like when I go to the hairdresser and they prissy my hair up to look very neat and tidy, when I've walked in in well worn jeans, a pair of ankle boots and a casual top. I have even gone so far as to to say just messy it up as the neat look just isn't me....but every time without fail...the hair tongs or straighteners come out. I just need someone who gets my vibe.

I've never had colours done but my friend is evangelical about it. She was having a confidence wobble before starting a new job last year and booked a session with this personal stylist www.emilystott.net/personal-styling-services-london

They did colours and a sort of "shop your wardrobe" session where she looked at lots of ways of making the most of her existing clothes.

I hope you get the look you want OP. I always mess my hair up as soon as I leave the salon too😂

Colour me Beautiful, because they use a tonal system which is much more nuanced. Lots of people don't fit into even the 'expanded' seasonal system. I've got pretty neutral skin so the tonal system works the absolute best for me.

I was looking into this too and downloaded Style DNA app, they obviously intended it to market clothing but you can set it up and take a photo and it'll tell you your season and pallet and a few shape tips based on the weight and height before you hit any pay walls or requests for email accounts.
I've not paid a penny (and don't Intend to) but it's helped me in the first step of considering colours and clothing shapes.

You can also delete the data in app and repeat. I made my mum do it and while the cool summer option it gave me was colours I loved and often wear my mum hated her proposed pallete - I guess colours that flatter simply may not be colours you like.

Have had it done twice - once 35 years ago and once recently for a refresh given I'm older and greyer. Colour me beautiful consultant was very flexible and did a style update too. Well worth the investment! I've done a really good cull and focussed my shopping massively so I like to think the cost has balanced out.
