Has anyone used this and had results?
It's flipping expensive for a tiny tube, I'm happy to splurge if it actually works, but does it?
I've gone way past the "fine" lines and wrinkles and I'm now in the static line and crevices stage.
It's all really despressing, I need to do something!!
Any advice on the above cream pls?

The best over the counter Retinol I used was Medik8 but it got expensive so I switched to Dermatica which is Tretinoin which is stronger. Used for 3 years and very happy. It's about £25 every 6 weeks compared to £45 ish on Medik8

Referral code if you're interested

Try personalised skincare for just £2.90, plus £10 off your next month.

Head to www.dermatica.co.uk and checkout with code Y2K0NE

(full disclosure this gives me a discount but I'm honest and I wouldn't recommend something i don't personally use)

@bryceQ thank you. Have you noticed an improvement in wrinkles and lines?

I started using Retinol young so I don't have wrinkles but it makes my skin really nice, there's nothing more I could wish it to look like... I find the while routine so easy. I use very cheap other products. I do know women in 60s who have really good results. It's all a bit of a marathon not a sprint though, you do need to be patient.

Retinoids are a long game. You won't notice any huge difference for months and months.
Then you'll suddenly think fuck, my skin looks good FOR my age. You won't look 20 years younger, or even 10. You'll look like someone your age with great skin.

(I don't think a 1% retinol is worth Skinceuticals prices. Medik8 is retinal, not retinol, and is a step above retinol and a step below Tret. You can get OTC retinals at decent prices now. I'm using Geek and Gorgeous - £20. I've gone down to retinal from tret as it doesn't irritate and I can use it every night)

I looked at the Geek & gorgeous one - bit worryingly it says only for those who are 'experienced retinoid users' does that mean not for first time retinal users??

sparky255 · 05/06/2024 19:05

I've been using Skin+me, but recently started to find it a bit strong and has been upsetting my skin. Just ordered the Medik8 crystal retinal 6 along with their Advanced Night Restore cream to see if my skin prefers it. Will keep everyone updated on how it goes.

twiddlingthumbs69 · 05/06/2024 20:16

@sparky255 I've just ordered the same, medik8 6 in a sample size. I'll update too

I used to use Medik8 and liked it but it was so expensive I couldn’t afford it in the end. The higher strengths are about £100 for 30ml now.

I switched to Skin&Me tretinoin and six months in I love it, £25 a month and I’m getting better results than I did with retinals (for pigmentation).

You have to be careful though, after the free samples they add stuff (cleanser, sunscreen, serum) to your subscription that you have to cancel. I don’t know if Dermatica are a bit better in that regard but I believe the tret product is very similar.

sunshinechaser · 05/06/2024 20:35

I wouldn't bother with retinol and just go straight for tretinoin. It's the gold standard anti ageing treatment and the only one with scientific evidence behind it. It is strong but if you start super slow and perhaps buffer with a moisturiser it will work out a whole lot cheaper and more effective that a retinol.
