Norkage and bikinis

I'm thinking of buying a bikini.

Which is probably a very silly idea given my age and whiteness of skin, but felt like I may as well be wearing a union jack when i was on the beach last year in a tankini. None of the natives seemed to care about age or propriety.

However, what is the chance of getting a bikini top to fit my 34D chest. Not enormous I know, but do those little tops come in a standard size, like 34B. The Bravissimo ones I've seen on line are hugely expensive, and I hate wearing things that don't fit.

What do you think?

figleaves.com. then freya. they have the only pretty ones that really support.

lucharl · 06/04/2008 20:37

think asda and tesco do cup size bikinis

jingleyjen · 06/04/2008 20:38

I don't do bikini's but with larger norkage (32G) I would spend the extra money making sure they were supported especially if I was going to fo swimming as well as sunbathing.

Have you tried La Senza?www.lasenza.co.uk/level2.asp?category=16&s=4 I've never bought a bikini top from here but their bras fit me perfectly (34DD) and are very flatterring after recent saggage!

AnotherFineMess · 06/04/2008 20:41

Doh. Try this here

PeachesMcLean · 06/04/2008 21:00

Those freya ones are so expensive though. £50 for a bikini? I don't spend that much on a frock!

The La Senza ones are a bit more reasonable.

this one? But I usually go for a pale blue - I've got very pale skin - will chocolate brown just make it look worse?

or this? Only goes to a 34 C/D but might be ok.

or are they both very very boring??

I've just got this ballet one from figleaves and am v impressed with the fit and quality - I am a 34E and the top can be worn stapless no problem.

lucharl · 06/04/2008 21:19

don't like either of them much, sorry - find big polka dots a bit little girly and the m&s pattern sludgey. The shimmery autograph one looks better.

I think dark colours better on pale skin cos pale colours seem to accentuate the pinky glow when you get a bit burnt!

and I don't often spend £50 on a frock either these days but I might consider it for a good bikini, after all that's what you're going to be wearing most of the time on holiday so you might as well splash out!

PeachesMcLean · 06/04/2008 21:28

LOL at the thought of a shimmery bikini. That's so not me

Thing is, I won't spend that much time wearing one. We tend to do more days out and stuff, so it's only the odd hour by the pool in the morning, or the occasional afternoon on the beach.

I don't tan. At all. So maybe I should be putting more effort into choosing a kaftan.

this one, with the matching shorts? Better colour for me.

lucharl · 06/04/2008 21:34

hmmm, yes on second thoughts the shimmery one is a bit Miss World!

lucharl · 06/04/2008 21:35

better, but aren't shorts an upside down tankini?

PeachesMcLean · 06/04/2008 21:41

Upside down tankini

Just trying to cover something up!
