Are my eye bags for life now. Is there anything I can do for my black under bags (they’re now so bad my laid back dh who doesn’t even notice when I go from black to blond hair noticed them this morning)

I look rough all the time because of them. They let my whole face down. I’m trying to drink more eat better less sugar and get more sleep but life often stalls the best of plans. Is there anything I can do.

Are they staying there for life? I have good skin just these blimmin eye bags bringing me down. Once I put concealer on I look much better,

Under eye bags* in case anyone didn’t get that!

Are they actually bags or just shadows? If bags, eye bag surgery worked for me (mine were really bad by the time I was 40 - hereditary). Not a cheap or practical solution I know but worth having a consultation if you can afford it - they are just pockets of fat so nothing you do makes much difference (assuming it's the same thing as me). Sorry if this is unhelpful.

I had surgery under local anaesthetic, it's amazing. I was born looking knackered and it's only in the 5 years since surgery that people don't tell me how tired I look multiple times a day. Not for the fainthearted but over in an hour.

Choccywookie · 04/06/2024 15:33

I think shadows. I am going on 39. They are flat in my face but very dark under the eye and clearly visible. I would consider surgery if it meant I didn’t have to wear makeup anymore to look less rough. Thanks for the reply.

Have a look at tear trough fillers. I've been having them once a year or so for quite a few years now. They make such a difference.

Following with interest to see what others recommend. My eye bags are the bane of my life. I do also need to drink more water and eat less sugar. Avoiding alcohol is also a big one. I’m 43 almost 44.

Things I have tried: under eye filler (didn’t help as much as I’d hoped as unfortunately my eyes get puffy too)and a little bit of cheek filler, which did help. I’d like to revisit this with a different practitioner.

Botox around the eyes to lift the eyebrows. High quality concealer and good quality vitamin C eye cream to brighten also helps. I use Murad.

Choccywookie · 04/06/2024 15:42

@Valeriesimpleton what surgery did you have done? I don’t have puffiness just dark circles and the upper eye lid also looks very dark which doesn’t help. Thanks

I know you said you’re trying to drink more already but for me hydration is absolutely key to this problem.

They can sometimes be caused by gluten intolerance.

BestZebbie · 05/06/2024 01:27

Following - I also have this (and think it is hereditary as I have had some level of dark circles since early childhood and my well rested/hydrated 9yr old is just starting to show them too).
Mine get worse (sometimes like a black eye injury!) if I am actually tired or run down, but even at my healthiest I have a dark flick across the top of each cheek/bottom of the eye socket and shading above it.
Luckily I wear glasses which generally cover up the worst part with the frame, but I was seriously unimpressed by my glasses-free passport photo!
Thick, face-paint type concealer can mask the shaded parts and minimise the flicks in the short term, but I'd be interested if there is anything that actually affects their initial appearance - other than general wellbeing.

Fake tan and a colour that you suit near your face

Would you mind expanding. What op, how much, where/what doctor. Your experience etc

I don’t know much about it but the last 5 years has completely changed my face. One is even bigger than the other with a littler lump in it that means I occasionally get asked if iv had an accident or have I been punched!

I had upper and lower bleph last year. No more baggy eyes! I went to Signature clinic (they have branches all over the UK). It was about £3500. I only had local anesthetic. I'm 54.

I’m having Polynucleotide Treatment at the moment and already have good results after the first treatment. You usually have 2 to 3. The treatment stimulates the production of collagen. The results are much more natural than tear trough filler. Good luck, OP and I hope you find a treatment which works for you.

When I had eye bags (for some reason they have gone) I used My Perfect Eyes cream. It is a miracle and they go. There are tricks to using it and not getting a white residue but it deffo works.

You cannot put it on skin that has any kind of oil, moisturiser, face cream, and that includes any that you might have put on the night before. You have to shake it, put a blob of it on the back of your hand, rub it around to spread out the crystals in it.

Iamblossom · 05/06/2024 13:36

Not being able to put make up on the top didn't bother me as I don't wear foundation

CollagenQueen · 05/06/2024 14:00

I always found My Perfect Eyes and Eyesential left a white residue.

Itsalwaysthelasttime · 05/06/2024 14:53

Mine disappeared after menopause im assuming I was anemic from having incredibly heavy periods.
