Having your "colours" done

Has anyone had their "colours" done? If so could you tell me what was the process, did it work and was it value for money?

There was a fad for this among my workmates and they all came in enthusing about it.
I didn't go because it was a lot of money and if I'd been told I should wear greens and browns, I wouldn't as I hate those colours.
I just stick with black, navy and red.

It could be that you already know that these colours suit you. Some people have a better "eye" than others.

I was clueless but also tight with money. I didn't know how much it mattered so I wasn't going to spend money on it. Then one day I happened in to a clothing shop with my artist friend and she ended up explaining my colours to me. It's honestly transformed what I wear. I no longer have days where I don't think I look good but can't think why. To me it's like learning to dress for your body shape. Knowing what i know now, I think it would be a good purchase.

I got bought it as a gift and it was brilliant. I now have so much colour in my wardrobe that I thought I couldn't wear. Can't recommend it enough

I did the cheap online one with Emily something. I haven't stuck religiously to it but it was v helpful.

It’s a useful tool but just one in the pursuit of looking good, I think. I am more inclined to choose warmer neutrals and an orangey red lipstick for a night out since finding out that I’m a Bright Spring, but the wrong top is still the wrong top even if it’s in the perfect shade of daffodil yellow or whatever. Alongside getting to know what you like and what makes you feel good, it’s helpful though. And sadly there’s no denying I look lovely and years younger in the lairy primary colours I’m supposed to wear instead of my much loved sludge and beige with a pinch of navy..

I had mine done years ago. I get compliments quite often.

I did a few months ago with Claire Watkins in Manchester. Absolute eye opener. I’m a spring and suit everything from pastels to highly saturated. I don’t buy expensive clothes so could afford to update some of my wardrobe. It now full of colour, I get lots of compliments. And best of all, it’s improved my mood.

Where did you have yours done, please?

How do you all find the clothes in the right colours?
I find it really difficult to find anything that fits and is the quality/style that I like.
I wouldn't buy anything in the colours that I know don't suit me, but factoring in 'my' colours makes the buying process nearly impossible!
I am aware of Kettlewell, but the clothes are too thin, you have to layer and layer.

Agree it can be very tricky to find your colours. I’ve done well lately because there’s been lots of khaki greens as neutrals, but don’t think this has always been the case. Also, colours on high street seem so very limited which I heard is continuing effect of Covid etc and manufacturers having to limit their ranges. Tons of black and white which I can’t wear at all.

I have found Kettlewell ok for summer t shirts, and sometimes go to Pure collection for cashmere knitwear as they do basic styles in a lot of colours. I also can knit a little myself which gives you almost limitless colour options.

Style me happy is great. Not expensive.

J2os · 03/06/2024 21:41

Mine told me I was a warm autumn. The colours are the ones I already knew suited me so not very useful but nice to have the confirmation, I suppose.

Mine was free on a promotion. I would have felt a bit ripped off if I’d paid much for it.

Thank you - yes, Pure do a lovely range of cashmere, and I treasure those I have in my 'colours'.
I recently managed purple and a fuchsia T shirts from Bon Marche - hope they will last a little. I would have preferred a half or three quarter sleeve, but these short sleeves are not too short.
