Blimey I'm crap at anything remotely resembling style!!
Going out with colleagues tonight. Drinks and meal, possibly - but not definitely - a club after (it'll be an older person's "after hours drinking with dancing" kind of place rather than trendy night spot). No idea what to wear, not helped by the fact that I haven't been able to get trousers to fit for almost a year so wardrobe's a bit lacking in the "bottoms" department. Not sure whether to wear a) black jeans and "something" b) brown & white "Per Una" jersey dress with knee high boots c) long denim skirt and "something". Had hoped to wear some lovely cropped trousers but it's too cold for that already so no chance of wearing them tonight. Can't really expect anyone to answer this cos it's abit of a naff question but just starting to panic!

I'd go for the dress and boots - sounds nice, dressy, and fine for all occasions.

Not that I'm what you could call stylish though !

janeite · 05/04/2008 16:21

The dress or the jeans (so long as the club allow jeans); long denim skirt sounds a) too daytime and b) a bit mumsy imho. The dress and boots sounds stylish and dressy, the jeans sound fine so long as they are dark and you wear a nice top and heels with them. Not that I'm so stylish either, I hasten to add! Have fun, whatever you decide to wear.

Thanks Cmotdibbler. Was just wondering if that might be too dressy. Also, although it's cold outside, it can be hot in pubs and clubs and the dress has long sleeves. At least with trousers/skirt I have layers to cover every eventuality. But I do like the dress.

I'd go for Dress and boots. Covers all angles and every occasion.

Have a good time!

Thanks Janeite. Skirt's definitely out then. I'm fairly sure some of the others will be in jeans, and I think the club we're likely to go to does allow jeans. Will look and see what tops I might wear with the jeans then see if that helps swing it.

oh, just found the same dress on ebay so you can see it here. But I only paid £7 for mine in the sale (as I expect the ebay seller did)!!!!

I'd go for the dress and boots. Don't worry about being too dressy. If you can't dress up on a saturday night, when can you? And anyway, its not covered in sparkles or diamontes etc.

lilolilmanchester · 05/04/2008 18:48

OK, dress and boots it is. Quick MN session with a glass of wine whilst waiting for my nails to dry.

Lilolil - How's your head and how did the skirt/boots combo go down? Was it the right choice?!!

lilolilmanchester · 06/04/2008 13:09

Hi TurkeyLurkey, thanks for asking. Yes, dress and boots perfect, MN personal stylists got it right again! Head ok, wasn't a ridiculously late night and I managed to sleep til 10 this morning (unheard of!) so am feeling not too bad. But just thinking, you know your Mumsnet habit is getting out of hand when you are asking people what to wear for a night out!!! I used to have a brain of my own!!
