I feel like I'm in a minefield! For the last year, I have been getting a regular full head of blonde highlights. I know my hairdresser uses 4% peroxide on me, so going slow and steady to get me to a very light blonde, with the aim to go platinum to blend in with my fast sprouting greys.
I have started to really look into investing into some decent quality hair care.
I will be avoiding Olaplex as back in 2019, it snapped the sides of my hair. My hairdresser has advised I avoid this product as she has heard of a lot of people having issues with it. With my own research, I have decided to avoid K18 as I have read a lot of reviews online about people having similar issues.
Once a week, I use the Living Proof Triple Bond Complex which is nice, and I al also using the Redken Extreme Anti Snap gel spray after each wash, and I feel this is also making a good difference to my hair.
Now to shampoo and conditioner. I am currently using the Herbal Essence Daily Detox shampoo and conditioner which gives my hair an amazing shine. I like this, but also worry that as it's a cheap shampoo (£1.95 in tesco), is it doing any good for my hair? It is silicone free etc though.
However, I have found myself down the rabbit hole of looking at bonding treatments. I keep going between the Redken Bonding Concentrate range, Redken Extreme Range and the L'Oreal Bonding Repair range. The latter which does get a good write up, but here is my current thought process....
Do I need to pay more for better performing shampoo & conditioner?
I did buy the L'Oreal Bond pre shampoo treatment yesterday and I tried it last night along with my Herbal Essence shampoo & conditioner, then my Living Proof serum and a spray of the Redken Anti Snap on my ends and I have to say, my hair feels and looks amazing today!
I have super fine hair, but my sides are shorter and I'm trying to bring them in line with the back of my hair (I do get regular trims). I have also switched the temp down on my hair dryer and I have a Diva straightener which I set to 100 degrees (I did the cloud nine hair test and it said to style using less than 120 degrees).
So to summarise....
Bond Shampoo & Conditioner range - is the L'Oreal range actually any good or do I need to be spending a bit more on brands such as Redken, or am I at risk of causing my hair to snap by using so many different products?
