Best hair removal cream for pre teen.

Just that really. 12 year old. Been living with leg hair for a considerable time. She’s a strong, confident, little thing. I’m very proud of her but the comments from others are taking their toll on her.

I’m figuring cream is the best option at this stage but wondering if they’re all the same or is there a clear winner?

Thank you.

I'd just let her shave tbh. Creams are messy and smelly. My dd likes the Olay shave heads as they have wee soap bars on them.

StarlightLady · 25/05/2024 12:10

I would think Veet Sensitive would be OK, take her through the spot test first, but maybe a battery shaver with a foil head would be better.

Beware the “hair is great brigade” jumping on this thread too.

The electric ones aren't that great. I showed dd how to wet shave with shaving gel and that's what she uses now, when she can be bothered

Thanks folks.

@StarlightLady im hoping not to get parent bashed on here. Me & my girl have spent a LOT of time talking about this. It’s certainly not a spontaneous, ill-thought out decision.

When my DD is older I don't think I'll want her using the creams, I think they melt the hair, that can't be good for them having that on their skin! A Gillette Venus razor with the soap heads attached are very easy to use. I'd go that route I think. If only hairy legs were acceptable in society eh.

You can get a hair remover pad ....silky mitt... rubbed on legs and it removed hair and dead skin cells and hair came back finer

Same issue with DD12 - I’ve helped her shave with Gillette Venus razor

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 25/05/2024 13:22

I tried one of those 'hair removal mitts' - it just took all my skin off. I'd beware of that on 'first time' skin, even legs.

Shaving will be easier I'd have thought, also much cheaper, those creams are expensive and if you daughter has noticeable leg hair at 12 then it must be dark, and will need removing fairly regularly.

maldivemoment · 25/05/2024 13:32

Thanks all. Hair is v light, but lots of it.

wish I had the tools at my disposal to deal with other kids first rather than helping my daughter remove her body hair. Ah well…

Appreciate all your advice.

Venus razor are really great

I'd also consider investing in a Lumea if a suitable hair colour /skin combo

Or have been much more cost effective it ad had one at 12 than 43!

JerkintheMerkin · 25/05/2024 17:50

Get her an exfoliating hair removal drop. Absolute game changer. Really didn't want my dd to go down the cream/razor route either but she had no problem using one of these.

EmpressOfTheThread · 25/05/2024 17:55

Poor girl, what a shame she's been made to feel so self conscious and uncomfortable. I think the razors and gel are probably better for her skin. Those mitts are tricky to manage well!
If you can teach her to use a razor with gel, she'll manage ok..

maldivemoment · 25/05/2024 18:27

Once again, your reassurance & kindness is very much appreciated ❤️

Picked up some of those olay razors & shaving gel today.

Sounds like a good idea. She'll feel a lot better. Good luck.

I did too, bloody hell it was SO painful!

Get her a Ladyshave ,she won't hurt herself and she can do it herself without supervision.
