Is 46/47 too late for Botox?

Just seen a picture of me with my face all screwed up and angry looking.

I’ve known for ages that Botox would help - is it worth doing now?

Yes. I started last year at 46 and I look so much less cross.

Maytorain · 25/05/2024 10:06

No unlikely not too late. It depends how deep the lines are. But often even the deepest lines will soften (but not go completely) with Botox :)

Less cross is exactly what I need. Resting calm face would be good.

Go for it! Make sure you go to a proper practitioner though. Dentists are good for this, as they know the structure of the face. My local beautician does botox, I would never use her.

Also, be aware that there are rip off products that don't really work. I always found Allergen the best, which is proper botox.

Thanks - I think I will use the dentist. I can’t find a price list but from looking around I think it will be £400 ish there

That’s quite steep- where are you based? My Botox is done by a nurse and she’s one of the more expensive ones in my area (north). She charged me £220 for forehead, frown lines and eyes. I went to someone who charged £150 for all 3 once but ended up with crazy eyebrows when I raised them

It depends how much you need. My dentist charges around £220 for Botox (I've not had it) but that's per syringe and it's the upper price end outside of central London, so it all depends how much they use.

Definitely not too late!

Fluckle · 25/05/2024 10:46

I started 3 years ago at 46, and have kept it up from there. I pay £220 for two areas, north west England, and I agree about dentists being a sound bet! As Alice Hart Davies says, botox gives you the most (almost) immediate effects for your money.

SkillSet · 25/05/2024 10:47

My Dentist is in Edinburgh. There are places closer to home but I wouldn’t feel
comfortable using them even if cheaper.

Botox is used for certain things, like frown lines. It's not a treatment for everything.

A good practitioner will look at your face and decide what's needed and what to use.

That could be fillers, or it could be Botox.
They are different and have different uses.

I've never had Botox (it wasn't necessary) but I had some very minor tweaks using filler. On both occasions I went to very expert dentists (one the Tatler rates as the best) for a consultation about what they 'saw' on my face and what they'd suggest.

It's far better to go along and say what you're unhappy with and let them choose the right approach. For instance, I was unhappy about my neck. It was suggested Dermaroller and Botox would give a 50% improvement. I decided against that partly on cost, pain and only 50% improvement which wouldn't last long.

TheOGCCL · 25/05/2024 12:13

It's not too late. I always think is it plausible that someone of that age looks like that. If not that's when it starts to look fake and obvious.

RJnomore1 · 25/05/2024 12:28

I can recommend someone excellent in Ayrshire if that’s close to you.

HermioneWeasley · 25/05/2024 12:33

I’m a year or two older than you and started having it a year ago because the frown lines between my eyebrows had permanently armed themselves into my face and I looked permanently cross. It’s been perfect for that.
