How many bras do you own?

beck1976 · 25/05/2024 01:04

I got re-measured about 18 months ago so then got rid of all my old bras that were the wrong size and started again. I seem to have so many now as I keep buying more I like 😂
different styles and colours, some plain comfy ones, some non wired, push up/plunge, t-shirt, strapless, the list goes on.
Plus bralettes too.
So I’ve counted 18 bras and 6 bralettes so far, and I still have my eye on another two.
Is anyone else as bad as me?

I wish I could afford that many!! They're really expensive

I don’t buy expensive ones, if I did then I wouldn’t be able to afford that many lol. Mainly from new look, M&S, asos - I often buy Dorina ones from there too, sone t-shirt ones from primark and George clothing.

Genuinely have no idea, I had to move them from my half drawer to a full drawer in my chest of drawers. Easily 50+, I've recently bought 4 from Lemonade which I love for WFH. My problem is I just can't get rid of them, it's a collection built over many years, but I wear the same ones on rotation! I tend to buy in sales and they'll fit when I try them on but then realise later in the day they're not a great fit and too late to return.

Plus I have bras for my weight fluctuating, still have a few kicking around from my 32 inch days I'm in denial about fitting into again 😂

buffyslayer · 25/05/2024 10:38

About 7 sports bras
35 normal ones, mostly Elomi

SwingingPonytail · 25/05/2024 10:40

Bras sell well on sites like Vinted.

I am amazed at how people will buy them. You won't get a fortune unless they are high-end or very unusual sizes, but I've got around £3 for basic M&S ones,,

Would they post these bras to Europe? Any websites you could recommend for 34g or 36f?

They don't do my size.

suburburban · 25/05/2024 11:24

Probably at least 10

I handwash them and wear for 2 days.

Some I don't wear as much

suburburban · 25/05/2024 11:26

I also have some sports bras

StarlightLady · 25/05/2024 11:28

Im a 36F. As someone who always wears underwired unless braless (l call it “bounce mode” 😀) on a hot day and not at work, l find the wiring comfortable. If it is digging in, l really think the wrong size is being worn.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 25/05/2024 13:31

Probably around 10. I have a small back and big boobs so it's incredibly difficult to get bras that fit. So I hold onto bras for longer than I should. I wear newer ones when I go out and older ones at home.

Supermarkets and high street stores like M&S, Next and New Look, etc. don't do my size. So I tend to buy (and live in) the Millie brand from bravissimo as that's the only one that fits properly and doesn't break the bank too much. I have it in a variety of colours to make up for the fact that I'm wearing the same bra!

I do wish manufacturers would make a broader range of sizes. There are so many lovely bras to buy if you're a 34b. It's really annoying that if you've actually got boobs there are very few bras to buy!

JerkintheMerkin · 25/05/2024 14:35

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn that is my experience as well. So expensively annoying. Would love to be able to pick up a pretty matching set from Tesco, primark etc. if I could I'd be the Imelda Marcos of bras Grin

Exactly

Some of us don't have a choice about how much we pay

I discovered M&S Flexifit crop top bras during lockdown. I buy them I size smaller than I am as the band gives after a while. I usually buy a new coloured one every year when they add them but I have black and nude ones, too.

They wash and dry like rags and I have re-inserting the pads down to a fine art (bra inside out, roll the pad, slot them in, unfold through fabric, away to go).

The only wired bras I kept since then are Glamorize Elegance ones. Available online at JD Williams, Simply Be, Amazon etc. I'm large-breasted but these are attractive and can be worn under low-cut tops. They give an amazing shape but most of all, they're incredibly comfortable.

They call them their Wonderwire and it is (providing you get the right size). I've never felt the need to fling it off the minute I get through the door. They pad the wire out somehow so it feels wire-free. It's a front fastener that some reviewers have found tricky but is quite simple. Open by snapping it then slide the bar up and do the opposite to close. The fastener feels like it could break but I'm still using the same one I got on an American trip a decade ago (the wires don't fall out either).

I tried several on to get the best size (easy in the US as loads of stores stock them). Bra fitters always cripple me with a too-small band and cups too large (where the wires then dig into my armpits eventually poking out). Try several on around your normal size (band down, cup up or the other way round) and get the size that feels and looks the best but with a close fit.

Incudes 2 sports
Others all wired because i don't like unwired.
Loads of different colours and none are white.
All sale purchases that way I can buy better quality.

TheYoungestSibling · 25/05/2024 16:28

Probably 25; that's crop top types, sports bras, pretty little things and hulking great structural support stuff.

I donated a mahoosive bag of bras before I had breast surgery and have bought a few "front loaders" which got me through recovery and honestly still get used quite often.

whirlyhead · 25/05/2024 16:43

About 30, mainly from bravissimo and cosabella so all quite expensive. No matching undies - if it’s good enough for Carrie Bradshaw it’s good enough for me… (life is too short for matching underwear!)

I only wear about 4 of them but the rest are waiting to be used.

Soooo many. I recently found the holy grail- a non wired bra that actually lifts and supports big boobies. So I bought 4. In my defence , I did then recycle 3 old baggy ones ..

Do tell

Zebracat · 25/05/2024 17:07

About 20 and I’ve just had a cull. My size varies quite a lot. I need underwires but constantly search for a bra that I don’t want to rip off after 10 minutes. One is a perfect fit right now, it’s a nude Fantasie bra, and I should buy it in white too. I have lots of scratchy matching pants clogging up my knicker drawer while I cycle through my tatty Sainsburys big cotton ones.

GigiAnnna · 25/05/2024 17:08

3 good ones. Most places don't do my size and when I have found them they are nowhere near supportive enough. So I have to spend around £40 for a decent bra.

My last holiday was 3 weeks, & I do not want to do washing on holiday.

Nothing weird about wearing clean underwear.

Broop · 25/05/2024 19:44

I have dozens and all of them are uncomfortable in one way or another! I have a narrow back and very big boobs and I think it’s pretty much impossible to find a comfortable wired one for my size. Plus because they’re all such major constructions I have specific bras to go with specific tops, and different ones depending on where I am in my cycle or if I’ve gained or lost weight…sigh…it’s a pain in the arse and a big expense. Fortunately I can find decent brands (fantasie being my current preference) on discounted sites like brastop but it’s still a big expense.
