How was it ? did you suddenly have the hair you alwyas longed for or was it still hard work to maintain it ?

I dont think I have the guts to do it . I have a love hate relationship with my hair

i have had it done once, but it was about 10 years ago. didnt work very well, still have a kink to it. i would imagine things have improved though.

I have a friend who has very curly hair naturally and gets it chemically straightened. Only thing is you have to keep up to it as when it grows the roots come through curly and look rather naff.

I don't think I'd do it. I had very curly hair before I was pregnant and now it is almost straight. Very very strange. I used to moan on about my hair but straight-ish hair has a whole other set of problems, it often looks lank and flat and if I could go back to it as it was I definitely would.

Had mine done a couple of years ago, when hair was short and it was fab - much easier to deal with!

And curls are in now!!!!!!!!!

i had it done once. didn't like it. felt like my hair was too boring and flat. now love my curly hair.

had mine done in feb and will definately do it again. hair was very big and fluffy before, now it can dry on its own, i use straighteners just to run over it quickly and i can brush it without looking like i have been plugged in to the national grid!

I used to have mine done and it was fine. But when I moved house, my new hairdressers won't do it as they say the treatment is too strong, and it damages the hair. So I bought myself some GHD straighteners (about 5 years ago now) and have used those ever since. I find if I only use them twice a week, then it does not damage my hair. I wouldn't get it straightened again because you can't colour and straighten your hair at the same time!

I have it done - I'm addicted to it now!

I have had two different types:

  1. Yuko - actually makes hair much shinier and definitely didn't damange it but takes ages (4hours+), costs a fortune and also I felt my hair was too straight and flat
  2. Xtenso - cheaper, takes 2 hours, not quite so good at keeping condition of my hair good but i've not found it is too damaged, leaves my hair with a bit more body.

If money and time were unlimited I'd do Yuko though.

I've slightly wavy, quite frizzy hair so when it regrows I don't find it too big a problem but if your hair was naturally very curly, as others have said the roots might look odd.

DO IT! It's fab.

bluefox · 06/04/2008 22:20

I might be interested in having this done. Can anyone tell me how much it costs please?

MNersanonymous · 06/04/2008 22:31

It depends which one you go for and where you live.

In outer London Yuko was costing £300 (hence me not being able to do it again!) and the Xtenso thing about £70.

Thank you for your replies - my hair is curly so the root growth might be a problem . I think I will live with my curls for a bit longer , had it cut a couple of weeks ago and hairdressers did a good job to work with my curls so reasonably happy with them at the moment!
