Eyebrows are “flatter” after Botox - help!

Had some Botox just under a week ago, (very reputable doctor recommended by a friend and in the Tweakments guide who did some really good and subtle filler work on me), but I’m slightly confused by the results.

I don’t really have many wrinkles and it was mainly to address crows feet and open up my eye area/lift my brows a bit. My eyes are quite deep set and she said this would be a better first step than going straight for tear trough fillers.

But almost a week on I find that my eyebrows are less “arched” if you know what I mean, and when I raise them it’s just the first bit (as opposed to the arch or tail) that lifts. It doesn’t look bad and to anyone else it isn’t noticeable but it is not what I was expecting!

I know the effects take a while to kick in and can be uneven at first but the tiny bit she put between my brows and around my crows feet has already taken effect. I have my review appointment in a couple of weeks so will definitely be mentioning it to her and am not sure whether anything can be done about it or if I’m stuck like this until it wears off.

Has anyone else had this happen? Really hoping someone will tell me it happened to them but after the two week point their brows looked the way they wanted it to!!

Anyone??

I don’t think it’s uncommon If your eyebrow has dropped just an unfortunate side effect. Have a google it’s one of the most common ones I think, apparently 4-6 weeks. I only get my centre brow done as I didn’t want to risk eyebrow drop and the relaxing of he centre has improved my forehead

RadPhyz · 21/05/2024 21:50

Thanks, 4-6 weeks gives me hope. I thought I’d be stuck like this for the whole 4 months that botox apparently lasts! Think I might go for the tear trough fillers after all, instead of messing about with Botox!

Do you have a 2 week check up/ top up booked ?
They will likely put a bit more in somewhere to balance it out. Do speak out, it'll be easily dealt with

RadPhyz · 22/05/2024 07:30

Yes, I do, 2 weeks from today. But I’m not sure if more Botox can help as I literally can’t raise my eyebrows apart from the first bit and it gives me that Disney character look! The arch and tail don’t move at all.

From what I’ve read, brow droop can be caused my too much Botox in the forehead. But she didn’t even inject my forehead apart from 2 tiny dots as she said raising my brows might make any lines in my forehead more obvious.

Ugh, I’m so annoyed with myself!!!

They will likely put more in the inside of your brows them to stop them lifting up,
Speak to your therapist, don't panic too much yet, everyone's muscles and ideal dosages are different and if they're good they'll know how to get the perfect look for you next time.

RausageSoul · 22/05/2024 07:47

This is exactly what your top up is for! A good practitioner is very skilled at tweaking the locations, worry not!

I got a 'spock brow' the first time I went, but my top up fixed it beautifully and it's never happened again

RadPhyz · 22/05/2024 08:25

This is reassuring to hear so thank you! I was expecting to look like Spock if anything went wrong, not like this!

When I get mine done it automatically lifts my eyebrows. Mention it at your review, it may be that you need a bit more to even it out.

CornishPorsche · 22/05/2024 08:40

Botox can't lift anything. Any practitioner claiming it can is not competent. It it literally not how it works. Flat is the outcome I'm afraid.

They inject the obicularis oculi which is a depressor muscle, so the outside of the brows appear lifted because there's nothing pulling them down

SparrowFeet · 22/05/2024 09:24

It sounds like they put a couple of dots in at the top of your forehead to stop them lifting too much (which can happen when you just inject the 'elevens'). As others have said, just tell them at the next appointment and they should be able to sort it out. Just about rebalancing the muscles.

Yes, I think that’s exactly what she did.

Not true at all. I have an uneven top lip, in that one side of the cupids bow is fuller than the other. When she does my Botox she pops a bit in that side of my top lip and it lifts it, evening them out.

PurpleJam2234 · 19/07/2024 13:17

@RadPhyz How are you doing now? I have something not right with my eyes, maybe slight drop and then a major Spock brow one side!! It’s been 9 days 🤣

RadPhyz · 19/07/2024 16:17

@PurpleJam2234 I went back for 2 follow-ups and she gave me a tiny dose under my brows each time. A combination of that and the forehead Botox wearing off means my brows are arched again!

tbh I don’t think I’ll bother with any more brow tox but will definitely get my frown lines and crows feet done again!

I would say definitely go for your follow up as I’m sure something can be done to fix your brows too.

Thanks for replying, this is giving major hope! I keep seeing photos of myself and I feel like somethings like well off/fake. She did my smile lines too and maybe that isn’t helping the fake smile look!

when did you first notice the Botox wearing off?! I have been trying to lift my eyebrows in the middle (which I can’t move) every time I got to the loo in hope it will speed up the balance. 🤣

RadPhyz · 20/07/2024 19:51

It’s been 2 months and I’ve got some movement back in my forehead now, but she only used a tiny amount there. I still can’t frown and my crows feet aren’t back, not that I’m complaining!

Iceache · 20/07/2024 19:59

I could have written this post!! Honestly I’ve resorted to plucking more shape into my brows and kind of filling them with pencil a bit more but it’s time consuming and they were so low maintenance before! Mine is also wearing off a bit now and I’ll be going back in September ish but I’m thinking of trying a different practitioner because I suspect the one I went to was a bit heavy handed

PurpleJam2234 · 20/07/2024 20:03

@Iceache When did you have it done?! Are your eyebrows now moving a bit? 🤣

wondering how long till I get some form of movement! I am practicing raising my eyebrows in hope it helps wear it off…. Not sure that will actually do anything!

Iceache · 20/07/2024 20:06

So I had it staggered as at first it raised my eyebrows which created more lines and she gave me a top up (a month ago now I think) which froze my forehead totally and flattened my brows. I’ve also had headaches since then which I think is related. I don’t love the frozen feel at all and my eyelids are slightly droopy (not noticeable to anyone but me) whereas before they were wide and deep set. All in all I don’t think she’s done a great job although I do love my forehead. I’ll def be switching!

PurpleJam2234 · 20/07/2024 20:11

@RadPhyz ah ok! So still in the very much frozen phase? I keep hearing the words, it’ll soften… whatever that means! So hopefully yours will start to soften in a couple of weeks 🤞

Supposedly peak is 2 weeks and then movement starts to come back slowly from then… but could take up to 3-6 months. I’m hoping closer to 3!
