Makeup help - 40 and no confidence

So I recently hit the big 40 and have had a real crisis of confidence. (My birthday isn't the only reason for this but definitely part of it.)

I feel like my skin has changed a lot in the last 12 months or so with more redness showing through. It's made my usual make up look 'off' (though I never really wore much anyway and definitely not with any skill).

In an effort to boost my confidence, I've paid a few visits to make-up counters to gradually start building a new makeup collection.

I've been colour matched at Estee Lauder and have the sheer double wear in 2C0. The colour is great but its maybe a wee bit too sheer for me. (Tempted to try the standard double wear next).

I was also recommended Charlotte Tilsbury cheek to chic in love glow and I have Bobbie Brown luxe lipstick in sandwash pink.

Next on my list is eye make-up. I'm blonde with blue eyes and really need some help to work out what colours work with both my skin tone (and won't accentuate any redness) and the products I've already bought.

I 100% cannot do eyeliner and tend to just sweep one colour across the lid with poss a bit of a darker shade at the outer corner then add black mascara but that's really the extent of my technique.

Can anyone help suggest products and shades please?

I could of course go to another counter for advice but would like to get some impartial views first if possible.

Slightly off topic, but I had a similar problem with my skin in my late 30s/early 40s. Tried all sorts of different skin products/make up/ washing pillow case daily etc. Then tried skin+me - they diagnosed rosacea and after using their daily product, it’s now completely gone, including the scarring that was left. I’m too scared to stop using it in case it comes back, but I’d highly recommend!

Thanks @McSleepy, I'll take a look.

I know it sounds vain but I just feel its impossible to feel 'put together' atm so any tips that might help are welcome

It doesn’t sound vain at all to me! I have different colouring to you, so can’t recommend shades. I like the current foundation you’re using but found it was for a few months over summer only as it almost has a holiday look. For me, the standard double wear is too matt so looked a bit painted on, but it did last all day!
I’m currently using Charlotte tilbury beautiful skin foundation which I like but probably similar to sheer double wear. Nars blush in orgasm (very pink) or glossier cloud paint in beam (peachy). Victoria beckham eyeliners which I absolutely love, but appreciate they’re not your thing, and Bobbi brown black mascara. I dont tend to wear eye shadow/cream but for the odd occasion I do, I rate the Trinny London stackable eye creams in wisdom or dawn. There’s a colour match on the website which is pretty good.

I think if you’re trying to look put together, then definitely add a natural looking blusher, shade your eyebrows and give eye liner a go.

Can I suggest you get your eyebrows and eyelashes tinted/threaded/lifted. That always helps with definition.
I’m at the other end of the spectrum, so can’t recommend colours.

I do like the look of the Trinny eyeshadows - the chuck it on with your finger approach she takes is about my skill level!

Most of my make up is basically finger painting as well!
I'm very short sighted so don't see well enough for anything complicated. Just BBcream, concealer, powder, lippy, bronzer/blusher, natural browny eyeshadow over lid and a bit of eye liner on bottom.
I'm a blue eyed blond too but I couldn't tell you what colours work....I mainly aim to look better but not like I'm wearing make up!😁
