pashminas v european, they are too busy wearing turtlenecks - such an unflattering look for anyone older than 12!

"Extra Wide Fabric Scarf. These scarves are most often seen in Europe and may include a fringe. They are often a wrinkly type of soft fabric and are about 4 feet long and 3 feet wide when completely unfolded. Start by placing the middle of the scarf at the back of your neck with the two unfolded ends hanging on either side of you. Pull each end across you and around your neck to create a loose bunch of fabric hanging on your upper chest, pull it a little tighter and tuck the ends in to have a voluminous bunch of cloth at your neck.

my younger sister is unheathily attached to her turtlenecks ~(she is 34) I know it's cold over there, but she has a rainbow selection pack

hana · 04/04/2008 16:27

maybe because houses are bigger, entrance hallways exist (haha) so it's a 'feature'

Bridie3 · 04/04/2008 16:27

Does anyone still wear them over here if they're under 50?

DJCod · 04/04/2008 16:28

net thingies?

Many homes, particularly in very warm regions of the US, have a mesh screen door in front of the front door.

That way, you can have your front door open to catch a breeze, but the mosquitos, roaches, ants, bees and snakes can't get in.

The screen is metal, though, not net.

Some have 'storm doors', a clear plexiglass door, in front of the front door.

This serves two purposes. It's extra security - these doors often have a deadbolt lock AND, they provide protection from so-called 'kick in burglars'. And they offer extra protection to your door during hurricanes, tropical storms and the like.

I have not seen pashminas on Americans, tbh.

But I've also lived mostly in regions that don't stay very cold for too long - including Denver - and I find them very hot myself.

DJCod · 04/04/2008 16:34

no not those expat

Bridie3 · 04/04/2008 16:34

I was wondering about silver or white but am bound to dip it in children's chocolate mousse. I like the ones with applique patterns.

expatinscotland · 04/04/2008 16:35

Hmm, I cannot say I have seen those in a real person's home, tbh.

I think they may be a sitcom thing.

Now I'm wondering if you HAVE seen them in an unreal person's home and who this unfortunate was.

DJCod · 04/04/2008 16:38

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 04/04/2008 16:43

no, can't say i've seen those in a real house.

lots of those paneled doors, often referred to as 'French doors' and pocket doors that slide into he wall, particularly in big city apartments.

Bridie3 · 04/04/2008 16:45

I'd love to have doors like that.

expatinscotland · 04/04/2008 16:48

my parents have them in their house, between the living and dining rooms.

Bridie3 · 04/04/2008 17:12

It would save me some space...

expatinscotland · 04/04/2008 17:16

they're nice, but your wall has to be able to take them - not a support wall, for example.

Bridie3 · 04/04/2008 17:26

That's the trouble with our house--too much support in the wrong places.
