Nail dipping treatments - any good ?

I'm keen to find a better way of doing my nails. I keep reading about S*say saints and minicure and others. Are any of them any good. They seem to be too good to be true. Is that because that's always the case? I've dabbled with uv lamp and uv curable varnish but I'm a bit crap at it Dipping looks easy but do I need to be good at applying the stuff to dip "onto"?? God knows. But I need help. I want to be more groomed. I've been having my lashes done of late which has helped a bit (until I wake hungover where they're twisted and I look like a sad old drag queen). Anyway. My mission to be glam continues but all help welcome. Please.

Now being peppered with ads. Brilliant

I tried doing my own but it was a pain. I get sns on my natural nails every 3 weeks at the salon though and it's totally worth it. No UV or drilling. My nails are really strong underneath!

I'm sure this questions came up recently on style and beauty and I was curious too, because I keep being bombarded with ads for glam*r dip or whatever it's called.

I'm sure someone came on and said the list of ingredients are horrendous and contain some nasty stuff. Need to do some more research myself I guess

They seem good and the powder stirring vid always gets me! But if you look at the review pictures, even highly rated, they look lumpy with inconsistent colour coverage and generally a bit crappy.

Therapy4all · 20/05/2024 07:20

I've done all types of nail extensions and gels etc at home myself.

By far the easiest and quickest is gel x. Full cover gel nails with gel glue then gel polish.

Pollypetdog · 20/05/2024 08:02

@Therapy4all interesting. Do I need a lamp for this? I'm glad I asked as the reviews can't be that perfect can then?! Had two more ads for other brands cheaper than the Sissy saints (who claim no nasties by the way so maybe that's why they're more expensive? Who knows?) I've just put another coat of Ballet Slippers on to hide my poor technique but make a nod to some effort

Following with interest, as I’ve had to quit my home gel habit but can’t face paying £££ in the salon

I am crap at doing my own nails and have done the SS twice and it’s looked okish. What I didn’t realise is it’s like acrylic nails so your nails end up massively thick and solid. My nails are very weak and bendy after removing. I don’t think it’s for me. I thought it was just long lasting colour.

Amx · 20/05/2024 08:23

They look too thick imo and I don't like the glittery finish.

Blue sky and a uv lamp are better.

Pollypetdog · 20/05/2024 09:21

@Thanksbetomoonah oh this makes sense now you say it. So we are essentially building like acrylic nails. Hm not what I want

Sassy Saints are hard wearing and long lasting if you have the patience to sit and file it all down as they come out thick and lumpy!
