Long lasting nail polish

Anyone got any recommendations for a long lasting nail polish? I can’t justify getting my nails professionally done but like my nails to look good. Whenever I paint my nails in a day or two they’re chipping. Has anyone got any brands they find last longer?

You need Sally Hansen insta dry top coat. I use cheap as chips Barry M and it lasts for ages without chipping with that on.

I tried the cheapest nail wraps I could find on Amazon a few weeks ago, after seeing a recommendation on here. They lasted a couple of weeks without chipping, but were starting to lift round the edges. Will definitely use them again (but will remove properly next time, as peeling them off took some of my nail surface away 😳)

I usually get neatly a week out of OPI. Expensive but a bottle lasts ages. Also a clear topcoat gets you an extra couple of days.

You need Seche Vite. Makes any nail polish look fab and last ages. I get mine on Amazon.

Glamrdip, an investment to start but worth it

I recently bought one from this brand and it's miles better than any other nail varnish.

I've been gardening and potting up stuff and it still looks really good. It keeps the shine too.

I think I paid £11.99 for it.😁

Just for a ‘mileage may vary’ contrast I find some of my OPI to chip terribly.
Sally Hansen stuff is very hard wearing for the most part and the Insta Dry top coat mentioned up thread really is wonderful.
Main thing is to limit your hands exposure to prolonged contact with water as much as possible, so rubber gloves for washing up and keep them out of the water if you take baths

I also get good results from Essie

Totally agree with this!

Thanks Mumsnetters, a few different ones that sound worth a try!

I love nail wraps, rarely chip for me. I use with CND Vinylux top coat

Deargodletitgo · 18/05/2024 16:59

Really rate the sally hansen insta dry polishes

Illpickthatup · 18/05/2024 17:07

I just bought an LED lamp for about £15 and some gel polishes and do my own gels at home.

No specific recommendations for brands but I discovered that regularly applying nail/cuticle oil makes a huge difference for me.

For decades, I just thought regular polish didn’t work for me (I’d get 24 - 48 hours out of it). With the oiling I can get 5 - 7 days. Feel a bit daft for the vast amount of top coats I tried now 🙄
