Festival gear over 40!

Going to a big music festival in the summer. Last time I went I was 34 and child free! What do I wear? I’m a size 8-10. Would like to keep upper arms and boobs covered and nothing too short. I don’t want to look like I’m trying to be 20 but neither do I want to look out of style!

Not enough info OP
Glastonbury / Download /
Latitude / TRNSMT / ???
Is it even in the UK?
One day or several? Camping?
Do you want to buy or find something in your wardrobe. If the former, What's your budget?
And most importantly, what sort of clothes do you like to wear?

Alternatively have a look here for a slightly tongue in cheek guide

The great thing about a festival is that you really are free to express yourself. Dress up if you want, or just wear something totally unremarkable.

It does make a difference if you’re camping, glamping, or staying off site. And the weather can ruin all your wardrobe plans anyway. But no one gives a fig about your birth date - at the last one I was at both sequinned capes and denim jackets were being worn by festival goers from less then one year old to possibly over 90 years old.

How do you want to dress?

It’s Isle of Wight. Yes camping. I WANT to be 30 and toned and wear a sparkly playsuit but honestly all I’d think about would be my thighs on show (regardless of who else is looking I want to wear something I feel good in) and my bladder would just feel nervous about how long it would take me to get undressed to wee 😂

id be happy to wear something new- would probably look on vinted but would spend around £70 on the right outfit.

Ah …

Firstly - if available pay extra for the luxury loos. You don’t want to encounter the standard offering …

I’m sorry you’re wishing you were going as a different version of yourself.

If you want something even vaguely special within budget you’d definitely be better off looking for something pre-owned. Or on The Outnet. Last time I went - different festival, recently - I needed to look fairly grown up so wore a long, sleeveless dress from Loulou Studio. If I were going again, for colourful carefree festival clothes I’d probably look at places like:

Acne Studios
Alemais
Alexandra Golovanoff
American Vintage
Cawley Studio
La Fetiche

All of which can probably be found on Vestiaire or other pre-owned sites.

(PS - I’m much older than you!)

I wouldn't bother getting anything special. Take some practical stuff, and then anything fancy, fairy wings or sequins etc is probably going to be cheaper to buy at a stall there - don't buy from the first place you see obv.
Its part of the fun of it,and these festival traders, its their living.

Get something sparkly from Vinted. I have jumpsuits, playsuits, wigs, light up headbands which are fab in the evening. Dress up and have fun. No-one cares what you wear at a festival. I'm 55 btw and go with my 12 year old. We love dressing up.

I went to my last one in faux leather leggings, a band tshirt and trainers. So comfy for dancing, and sprawling about on a picnic rug. I did put a bit of effort into sparkly hair and makeup so I didn't look too pedestrian!

Thinking of investing in a sequinned bomber jacket for next time.
