The dreaded peach fuzz!!

Majellaa · 18/05/2024 07:02

I've seen so many videos of women using those little razors to remove peach fuzz from their face and I can't say I'm not tempted.

The peach fuzz on my face is out of control!! Especially now we're getting more sun every time I look in the mirror all I see is fluff!!

So my questions are:

Has anyone used them?
Doesn't hair grow back darker/thicker?
When the hair does grow back does it look stubbly to begin with?

Please help a fluff out! 🥴

I'm 72 and have used the ones off Anazon for years and the hair just returns as bum fluff, no thicker or darker. I wouldn't use it on my tache or the odd whisker though. Makeup goes on so smoothly afterwards!

I spoke to my dermatologist and she said the dermaplaning trend is just shaving by another name.
Every 10 days or so I dermaplane the peach fuzz away and it doesn't seem thick or stubbly coming back.
As pp said, don't do it on thicker dark hairs. Eg I have always had a bit of a tasche that I trim short with little scissors and then bleach with jolen, so it's barely noticeable.

I use them...it does get rid of it...quickly. i have loads peach fuzz its unreal. It does grow back quickly but no more than shaving

Loubelle70 · 18/05/2024 07:16

I agree ...i mainly do it so i can wear foundation otherwise it cakes onto the fuzz

TheProvincialLady · 18/05/2024 07:27

It makes no difference to how the hair grows back. It comes back - quickly - as more peach fuzz.

However those little buzzing razors are useless IMO. They take forever to use, get really hot and burn through endless batteries. Just get a dermaplaning razor. It takes a fraction of the time and gives a much better result.

WeDreamInPhosphoresence · 18/05/2024 07:53

Just shave it with a normal razor.

I say this on every thread about peach fuzz and everyone ignores it, looking for more pointlessly creative ways to waste their money.

The normal razor does just fine.

The idea of hair growing back darker and thicker is a myth. It seems that way sometimes because when you shave it tends to cut the hair off at an angle, so it feels pointier on already-thicker hairs.

But if that was a real thing, imagine what your leg hair regrowth would be like after years of shaving – we'd all be werewolves!

I find dermaplaning really satisfying, and it makes not just my makeup but my skincare feel like it's working better.

soupfiend · 18/05/2024 08:11

Its a total myth that hair grows back different. If you have peach fuzz, you have peach fuzz, nothing more, nothing less.

Be thankful it isnt the full grown thick dark hair like I have!

And as others say, you dont need some fancy thing, just a razor will do it.

TheMithrasDirective · 18/05/2024 08:17

I do it before I go to the dentist after seeing myself close up in a mirror under their harsh light one time!

It doesn't come back thicker or darker, no. I use those dermaplaning razors and it's very quick and easy.

Bluerisotto · 18/05/2024 08:19

I use an electric razor, or regular razor, as there is less chance of grazing my skin than with a derma planing blade.

The peach fuzz grows back as peach fuzz. It is an old wives tale that shaving makes hair grow back thicker. The hair at the root cannot possibly know that the top has been cut.
Worst case scenario it looks slightly thicker as each hair has a blunt end not a tapered one.

But it still looks a lot better than all the peach fuzz.

Dubbledecker · 18/05/2024 08:59

I had dermaplaning done by a beautician as I was a bit nervous to try myself the first time.

I found it felt a bit strange being so smooth,a bit like freshly shaved legs feeling.
It has grown back now,no different from before.

I did notice that my hair stuck to my face which I wasn't expecting! Anyone else?!

Toddlerteaplease · 18/05/2024 09:01

I use them. They are great! It's so satisfying to see it drop off.

thedendrochronologist · 18/05/2024 09:04

Yes it's great do it!

I don't want to be the lone annoying dickhead who offers no constructive advice, but I love peach fuzz. Nothing more beautiful than that apricot glow in the sun, of a confident woman who is also a mammal with hair. My kids love my soft face 😅 it would seem a shame to remove it. Wasted energy.

Feel free to think I'm an irrelevant dickhead because everyone is free to do as they please thankfully, to get rid of it or keep. But I want to vote for keep 💕#unrealisticbeautystandards

Delawear · 18/05/2024 09:12

It is also an option to live with it. I do and it’s fine. Absolutely no regrets. No one ever comments on it, and if they did it would be on them.

I love this!
I remove mine mainly because my makeup looks better and not patchy. Although my grandson said, grandma you have a beard lol .. its a shame they don't teach young lads n lasses about beauty expectations and patriarchal standards for women! Although i do say whoooaaa hang on...explains to DGS that he shouldnt expect women to do anything they dont wanna do just for the male gaze...that turned serious lol but you know.

Oh I love this!!

And actually I think the only reason I notice it more now is because I've seen these videos of women shaving it off!

I wish I had your confidence @LamonicBibber1. I totally agree with you in principle and couldn’t care less whether other women have it or not - but I can’t live with my own.

suki1964 · 18/05/2024 13:41

Peach fuzz I live with, along with hairy legs and pit hair, but top lip and chin - its all out war !!!

DancingNotDrowning · 18/05/2024 13:51

I use a spiral threader, no chance of grazing and I can do it without a mirror so just keep it in my desk drawer for periodic top ups.

Same, all the women in my family including my daughter shave their faces and i'm here like nope not for me. I'll be a fuzzy fucker til the day I die😂.

Eyesopenwideawake · 18/05/2024 18:40

A dry, new, razor and a gentle touch once a week is all that's needed (for me!).

What on earth is a spiral threader?!

For those dermaplaning, don't you find it slightly stubbly and rough as it's growing back? That would be my concern.
