How do hairdressers blend a demarcation line?

I went for a balayage a few weeks ago. The hairdresser gave me more of a colour block than a blended result.

I have an appointment later this week for a better blend. I am just wondering how would a hairdresser blend a colour block in hair where the lower half of the hair is bleached and coloured over with a semi vibrant.

After a better blend, what happens - will I be offered a new toner/colour?

Are you going back to the same hairdresser?

Has the hairdresser seen your currently? It might be worth having a consultation as it sounds more like a colour correction rather than a straight forward balayage or highlights.

I'm going back to the same hairdresser and he saw my hair already. I don't know what will be involved with my appointment for a better blend. Will I presume it's highlights?

Do you trust him to do it the way you want this time?

I recon it'll be a combination of highlights and lowlights.
