Foundation for oily, middle aged skin

I've always worn foundation and have honestly tried many many brands, both expensive and cheap.

I have oily/combination skin with large pores. My cheeks tend to get dry. I'm 39 and skin isn't too bad for fine lines but my current foundation is definitely not sitting as well anymore.

Current foundation is Estée Lauder double wear and it's honestly the only foundation I've found that lasts the day on my oily zones. I'm pale too and it's the best colour match I've ever found.

However, I'm finding that recently it's clinging to my pores more and my fine lines.

I'm gutted to be honest. I think a "dewy" foundation is normally recommended but my skin is oily so that probably won't be good for me.

Has anyone found a good alternative? Cheap or expensive.
Thanks

Could you try a skin tint instead? The Glossier one is good. They sit much lighter on the skin and just even things out.

I use L'Oréal true match tinted serum. I've found foundation too heavy for my skin as I've gotten older and it shows up every imperfection. Tinted serum is much lighter, I've also tried the Maybelline version and switch back and forth if one is on offer.

I'm 39 and for the last couple of years, my skin has become much more oily. I've always had combination skin but it's getting worse the older I'm getting!

I've given up on foundation. I spent a small fortune buying expensive ones, cheap ones..you name it, I've tried it!
I recently bought some 20% niacinamide serum from the inkey list, purifide oil control moisturiser & la Roche posay factor 50spf. I use these as a base, followed by elf niacinamide primer (the pink one), Lancôme idole concealer & Laura mercier finishing powder. Set it all with benefit porefessional setting spray and I don't have to touch up/blot for at least 6 hours! And even then, it's only a light touch up needed. My make up is no longer sliding off my face.
It's taken a long time to find the right combination of products for my skin.

Defo go for treating the oil slick

Like @somethingisnotquiteright Im using niacinamide ( just a week so far ). I have an oil slick of a tzone but normal to verging on dry at times everywhere else. So I just use the niacinamide on the t-zone and my usual products everywhere else

I have pretty reactive skin so Ive started with a low concentration, I actually just bought the Balance Kit from The ordinary , and Im seeing a slight difference, no issues so next buy will be a higher concentrate

I also use a primer - making sure all skin products are well soaked in, then the primer, let that dry - I go brush the teeth and get partially dressed - then foundation. The primer really does help with application - theres plenty out there, some especially formatted for oily skin - in which case that would be the only areas Id wear that

I could’ve written your post! My skin is exactly the same and I used EL Double Wear for years. It has started to look awful on me as I get older. I’ve tried so many replacements and have found the Nars Tinted moisturiser the only one I like. I use a tiny bit of powder (Laura Mercia) on top but not because I need it, more out of habit. Its nuisance if you prefer more coverage but sits really nice on and is great for my oil slick skin! They do it in loads of shades too so I managed to get a great colour match.

I also recommend L'Oréal True Match serum. I put off trying it out for ages thinking it would make me look like an oil slick but it doesn't. It's really lovely on. Powders down nicely for the bit that are really shiny but doesn't feel cakey at all. I hate the feeling of foundation and used to just wear concealer but even that was getting too much for me so this foundation really is a game changer.

Thank you - some really helpful suggestions! Oily skin is such a curse!
