Tell me about products for magically removing wrinkles on forehead and restoring youth, please?

You know things are bad when close family memebers tell you that you look like shit, right? My forehead has recently gone from light lines to deep wrinkles, due to massive sleep deprivation (2nd dc only 9wks old and FIL dying very suddenly a week ago) and enormous emotion stress (see above)

I've just bought No7 protect & perfect serum, I've got L'Oreal boswelax stuff cream for face and eyes for night, and olay day cream for day. What am I missing? What product is going to magically improve everything?

Or is it time to think about the B-word???

what word word that be Big Bag (on head) .
I actually go for vitamins and stuff now rather than simply slapping on creams. It's FAR more effective

Condolences to you about your father in law. It sounds very stressful, especially with a tiny baby.

These will make you look goofy but do work and are cheap:
Frownies

thebecster · 03/04/2008 19:27

Sorry to hear about your FIL, and with a 9 wk old at such a stressful time you must be exhausted. Just a word of reassurance before you rush for the needle - my frown lines did exactly the same thing when I was under a lot of stress last year, then when the stress lessened so did the lines, so it wasn't a permanent thing. TBH I don't like the look of a botoxed face - quite a few clients in my ex-job had it and I found them really confusing to talk to because I couldn't 'read' their face.

BTW, I also swapped to using Olay Total Effects day cream and taking vitamins and Wellness Formula (but you can't take Wellness Formula if you are BFing). And increased my water intake. But really I think it was the reduction in stress - once the crisis had passed, the lines reduced. Hope you get some rest soon...

yes get a baseball hat

fillybuster · 03/04/2008 20:40

Thanks all. I think frownies will give dh a much needed laugh so will give them a shot...and am slightly more optimistic that large amounts of sleep and water might help the forehead situation...not quite ready for the needle yet (although not ruling it out long term, am only 34 and suspect that once you start you can't stop). Have also now invested in new multi-vits...can't hurt...

Oh, and my hat collection is already extensive - guess it will do more than just hide my regular bad hair days for now...

frownies? never heard of them before. would be interested to know if they work!

LynetteScavo · 03/04/2008 21:34

So Frownies really work? They've been around for 100 years?

cheesesarnie · 03/04/2008 21:39

a fringe.

cheesesarnie · 03/04/2008 21:42

my dh would fall asleep laughing if i wore those to bed

DrNortherner · 03/04/2008 21:46

Seriously do frownies work? I've never heard about them but am tempted. Tell me more....

tharsheblows · 03/04/2008 21:48

Re Frownies: I think you have to be the type of person who gets wrinkles from frowning in your sleep. I do that and get them. Horrible vertical ones that make me look like some sort of demon mum.

They just don't allow the muscles to tighten and make them in the first place. It's basically stiff brown paper with glue that you stick to your face after smoothing it out. Very glamorous.

sigh... I don't use them often enough though.

Posey · 03/04/2008 21:59

I swear by No7 Protect and Perfect. Saw my mum about a month after using it and she couldn't believe the difference in my forehead lines, and also the double furrow between my eyebrows.

eekamoose · 03/04/2008 22:03

Forehead lines are genetic (sorry). Does your mum have them?

DrNortherner · 03/04/2008 22:04

My mum doesn't but my dad does. And he has crows feet.

eekamoose · 03/04/2008 22:11

How old is your Dad? Suspect he's probably of an age where crows feet are acceptable now.

I have crows feet but no forehead lines at all. Can only assume this is why people generally guess my age at 10 years younger than it really is.

Also, I do have (and always have had, due to high forehead) a fringe. Would you consider? Very popular, atm.

DrNortherner · 03/04/2008 22:13

My Dad is 64.

He has always had laughter lines though, as have I from an early age. Have teh beginnings of forehead lines now and have frown lines. I do have a fringe.

Not painting a good picture of myself am I?

skyatnight · 03/04/2008 22:15

I used Protect and Perfect. Initially my skin went blotchy and puffy. A couple of days later, I looked ten years younger but my face was hot and perspiring - sorry I'm a laydee (by Baccara) - glowing.

The effect gradually wore off until I went on a pre-Easter break to the freezing cold UK coast. I got wind-burn on the first day. The next morning my face swelled up like an allergy and then went stiff and orange until it peeled a week later. I was the only one of nine on the holiday to get this problem so had my skin been made untra-sensitive by the cream?

I do have sensitive skin so maybe I shouldn't have used it. It was worth it at the time as it was my 40th birthday and I looked great, got lots of compliments.

eekamoose · 03/04/2008 22:16

Oh blimey DrN, sounds like the frownies for you then!

Meanwhile, if you can recommend a product for magically removing approx 14lb of flab from expanding middle-aged waistline area, I would be grateful to know ...

fillybuster · 03/04/2008 22:23

I've got the horizontal lines on my forehead - had them for years and never been too bothered by them but they've been getting much much much worse lately, esp the middle one. Neither of my parents have them too badly, but they're both in their sixties so are kind of allowed to show a few signs of aging...

Eekamouse - so with you on that.

So basically, I need a cream to perform a miracle facelift and liposuction jobby all in one...any suggestions?

OP posts:
tharsheblows · 03/04/2008 23:43

Oh, I've got the horizontal lines on my forehead too. Have given up trying to do anything with those; think I'd need a facelift or botox.

My dh doesn't want me to get botox because I'd lose my ability to shoot death rays from my eyes. He seems amenable to me getting a tummy tuck or arm lift, though (have lost lots of weight and am a bit hangy). [hmmm] Maybe not yet though, will try the whole exercise/eating less thing for a while longer.
