Hello! First time poster and hoping for advice in the clothing department.
Now, from a young age I’ve always been happy wearing trousers, leggings, shorts with a T-shirt. To this day this is what I’m comfortable wearing. I’ve never been one to follow trends or never been ‘out there’ with my style. In fact, my style is basic b*tch 😂
I’m 32 with 2 kids (4&2) - and when I meet with other mums they’re all in these lovely long floaty dresses (in summer) and there’s me in all black leggings and an oversized T-shirt! I’ve been out and tried on these floaty dresses but it’s just not me!! I don’t feel comfortable in them, even if I do look lovely I just don’t feel it!

Please could someone advise me on some alternatives to the floaty dresses and leggings and oversized T-shirts?! Help a sister out 😆

Was going to suggest Tshirt dresses.
Shirt dresses are lovely too.

Also, shift dresses, and long, flowy palazzo pants with a tighter T shirt or camisole top plus light cardigan.

Faded jeans (not too tight) with the bottom turned up are a nice boho look for summer, with a T or blouse or peasant style top over them.

don't apologise for using the word bitch! basic bitch is just a colloquial word for basic style, some people are just professionally offended these days 🤣 ignore them

And I’d be amazed if you couldn’t find anything you like amongst Community Clothing’s new things. Wonderfully basic:

I don't do the floaty dress thing. Though I get the attraction. I'm more tom boy also.

What about drawstring linen trousers and loose shirt.?There's loads around at different price points . Great ones in H&M for example. and they look fresh and summery and you can wear with flats, sandals and trainers.

Don't worry about the
Basic B*tch comments. I don't think some posters understand it's quite ordinary lingo nowadays.

I'm a leggings and oversized tee/sweatshirt always gal too but recently got some jersey wide leg trousers from ASOS and have been wearing with oversize cotton shirts (New look have loads of lovely ones) floral floaty dresses look hideous on me but I've a few shirred type midi ones from H&M in neutral colours that don't look shocking. I'm very short at 5ft and find bold patterns and looser materials just Swamp me so tend to stick with a block colour/small polka dot or stripe and slightly more fitted cut dresses which definitely helps me look less like I've dressed up in my mums clothes!

If the OP refers to herself as a bitch, isn't it technically reclaiming the word and therefore not as derogatory as you're making out?

Hmm I wondered if someone would mention this when I posted my comment. For me no, I know what you mean but a male put down is still that even when a woman calls herself it I think. It still means the same doesn't it? But I think that about the other word that i cannot type!

Id go light weight wide legged trousers and fitted tee if I wanted to class things up.
Im not a floaty, flowery dress person either but my outfit of choice tends to be the other way round to the OP (baggier, cargo style trousers and fitted tee's).

Although do you really need to change if you feel comfortable? There is no point judging yourself againest other people, its just a waste of time.
