Trainer socks - just need some which stay put!

FirstPastThePostOffice · 09/05/2024 11:47

Don’t want them to show above my trainers but also they need to stay on my foot <hard stare at trainer currently containing sock crumpled under my foot>

Any recommendations please?

Thanks.

Stance socks.

thenightsky · 09/05/2024 16:27

I've tried loads from cheap to expensive over the years and they all slide down and bunch up after a while. Next lasted longest, but I was still hoiking them back up every 10 mins when walking.

My theory is that its the way you walk. I've got flat feet and pronate as I walk - sort of twist slightly on each step. This drags the sock down. My friend with high insteps never has an issue.

I have this problem, but also find all shoes without a strap/laces also fall off my heel. Do any of the people suggesting their favourite socks have the same problem and find they work even so?

@wingslikeeagles i put heel grips in the rear of shoes to shop shoes slipping off. Apologies if you’ve already tried this….

Primark just make sure you get the invisible ones. They have the silicone heel grips and don't move. The white ones withstand bleaching too

MustBeThursday · 09/05/2024 17:33

I have some from Tu kids in size 3-5.5 which stay put nicely- I always find the adult ones too long, even the 4-7 which should fit my size 5 feet

Oldraver · 09/05/2024 17:41

Have look on Amazon for Maloom bamboo best ones ever

TheRainItRaineth · 09/05/2024 17:42

Uniqlo trainer socks are great.

None of them stay put for me, silicone or no. I've finally embraced the fashion for visible ankle socks and life is much more comfortable!

This!! I just buy white sports socks now, let's hope the trend sticks around!!

Tootingbec · 09/05/2024 17:49

H&M do them with the silicone grips - works for me as all other socks do the crumple thing which makes me 😱 and 🤬 in equal measure

ArmchairPhycologist · 09/05/2024 19:02

I have these ones: anqier 6 Pairs Mens Running Socks, Cushioned Walking Socks Anti-Blister Trainer Socks for Men Women Ladies Cotton Ankle Low Cut Breathable Sports Socks https://amzn.eu/d/hP87i6t

Find them really comfy and my feet don't get too hot in them.

The only ones that don't fall down on me are these one ladies-fashion-secret-golf-socks-with-pompom not sure if it's the way I walk but I have tried thick, thin, siliconed, non siliconed, really tight, slightly to big trainer socks and they all end up bunched around my instep, also not due to trainers as it has done it with converse, nike, adidas and supermarket trainers, the pom poms aren't for everyone but they do work.

The primark ones are great!

RosyappleA · 09/05/2024 19:20

I agree with previous posters about size being important, on my size 4 feet I go for kids in primark. They have the rubber thing and there is elastic in the middle of the foot like some other brands do.

suburburban · 09/05/2024 19:22

I found Happy socks ones stayed on my feet

Sainsbury's ones on today stayed on

pudseypie · 09/05/2024 19:25

I have narrow ankles and struggle to keep shoes on which don't have a strap etc on. I've found the slazenger ones sold in Sports Direct by the tills in the big cardboard stands actually stay on my feet and wash ok. I've had a couple of packs of them now over the last 3 years and still going strong.

FuckTheClubUp · 09/05/2024 19:29

Primark ones are shite. Adidas and Nike are the only ones that work for me

Oh thank you! I was thinking about pompom socks but haven't seen any for decades. I'm going to order these when the white are back in stock Grin

They are really really good, I did feel slightly toddler chic when I first put them on, but because there is no slippage they are worth their weight in gold, they wash up really well too.

wingslikeeagles · 09/05/2024 22:25

@TorroFerney @LetsGoRoundTheRoundabout Thank you! I will give them a try.

@RedDawg I have indeed tried heel grips. I think my feet are a lost cause. Unlike what @thenightsky was saying, I think it's actually because I have high insteps that I have problems with shoes and socks.

I think I've tagged everyone correctly - apologies if I've got them wrong!

wingslikeeagles · 09/05/2024 22:26

Oops! Don't know what happened to my because!

dudsville · 10/05/2024 17:50

These are the holy grail. Sock manufacturers do not consider how different feet are from person to person. I once bought some socks that looked ridiculous on me and the fit was poor, later a friend needed a pair of socks and I lent her this same pair and they looked great on her. I have sharply tapered toes where her toe area was more square. This meant that the sock sat on her foot more evenly. It's trial and error I think. I found some in gap years ago and thankfully bought several pairs. Nothing else has worked for me.
